SP - Player, NPCs & Troops More ways to raise Notable relations

Users who are viewing this thread

Unless you abuse smithing, or spend the early game just doing quests, most notables will only ever have ~0 relationship with the player. This makes this sub-system less than impactful. Notables should have more things boost their relationship, even if only a small amount each instance, so this actually matters.

Ideas:
Killing bandit parties raises relationship with notable in the nearest settlement (Any or any non-criminal. Already a popular mod)
Repeat customer (any)
Tournament winner (any, but could favor criminal since they'd have a stake in betting)
Selling merchandise needed for town's output in that town (merchant type notables)

These would only raise relationship by a small amount (1 or 2 each time), but occur often enough in normal gameplay

I somewhat agree. it's hard to gain any good relationships with clans outside your immediate friend circle, unless you constantly choose to release enemy nobles after battles. In fact, it's very easy to gain negative relationship with other nobles: raiding, sieging, and conquering their settlement (the main things you do in mid to late game!).
But on the opposite end, unless you you try to be a b**ch, you will find it hard to not be friends with fellow vassals. even voting to take away their fiefs isn't too bad and will cost so much influence you can only do it a few time. The only reliable way to make them hate you is to 'devastate/show mercy' on a conquered city/castle.
This make a rift where your friends will just keep loving you more and more and your enemies' hatred for you will just keep growing, and there isn't much you can do about it. There need to be something that balances this, like maybe by having relationships slowly gravitate to zero; if they hate you +1-2 relationship every in-game year and if they love you, the opposite. This will make you have to maintain good relationships, and if you pissed off a few people early game, you will slowly make amends.

I've actually found that emissaries work really well to raise relationship with notables, since you can have a lot more companions than you would usually need for anything, you just leave them at a tavern in the town you want to raise relationships and depending on how high their charm is they have a random chance to increase relations with them daily, the higher the charm the faster it goes.

There's a perk on trading that allows you to increase relations with merchant notables if you spend over 10k denars in one go at shops which is somewhat what you suggest, except the only problem is that it's at level 275 so good luck to anyone trying to get there in a legit way.

Helping villagers being attacked by bandits already increases relations with the notables of their village which is good but one isn't very lucky to find this all the time. Doing the quest to collect taxes for lords usually has an option to collect half the taxes and you gain a lot of relations from them.

Having high loyalty and security increases your relations with notables in your owned settlements but I don't know exactly by how much.

Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to have a few more ways to earn relations since there's tons of notables everywhere. That said tho, having high charm makes a massive difference, for example when you only collect half the taxes in the farm revenue quest with about 200 charm or so you can get about 20 relations with each notable in the village, which is pretty good
