The aim of this thread is to provide a place for users to track the latest mod releases and updates easily, in turn helping mod makers to better reach users. While the forum is a wonderful place, full of great discussion, support and creativity around mods, for the layman its sheer size can prove overwhelming. With a thread like this, prospective mod users can keep track of the latest developments in the modding scene, even without detailed knowledge of how the forum works.
If you are a user:
Just go to the last page of this thread, to browse the very latest and up-to-date mods you can play. Use the dates for each post, to track when a release has been posted and work backwards chronologically to catch up with releases you've missed! Since information and download links are provided in the posts, everything you need should be right there.
If you are new to using mods, here are a few pointers to help you:
How do I install a mod for Mount & Blade Warband?
If the mod comes as an .exe file, just run it and it will install the mod to the correct location. Should it ask for the location, direct it to one of those listed below.
If the mod comes as a .zip, .rar or .7Z file, extract it to your installed "Mount&Blade Warband\Modules\" directory. If you don't have a program that can extract .rar or .7Z files, download a free one such as 7-zip.
If you use Steam, it's probably "C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\Modules\"
If you have the stand-alone version, it's probably "C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Mount&Blade Warband\Modules\"
If you've done this and the mod still isn't showing up, you might have extracted the mod a directory too deep. There should be a file called "module.ini" at a directory something like the following: "Mount&Blade Warband\Modules\My First Mod\module.ini". If you have something like: "Mount&Blade Warband\Modules\my_first_mod_0.75\My First Mod\module.ini" then you'll need to move the "My First Mod" folder so that it sits directly in "Modules".
Where can I find existing mods?
Here are some of the best places to discover Mount & Blade Warband's extensive array of user-created mods!
Darwin's Automated Mod List - This has particularly good coverage of mods found on this forum.
Warband's Steam Workshop - One of the easiest ways to install Mount & Blade Warband mods on Steam.
Warband Mods on Indie DB - A hub for many of Warband's accomplished, award-winning mods.
If you are a mod developer:
This thread is the perfect place to let people know when you release or update your mod. When you provide a new download or patch, fill out the template below and post it here in the thread. Remember, the thread isn't for discussion - even if you are a mod developer. If someone comments on one of your releases and you want reply, you should do so via PM and direct them to your thread, website or sub-forum. Please do not modify the template either; ample freedom is provided, within the template, for you to make your mod appealing but the purpose of this thread is to provide a comprehensive list, that will serve both modders and mod users. In the spirit of that, a clear and consistent format has been provided to offer a level playing field.
The template below will form the structure of your release post. Fields marked by <these angled brackets> should be replaced by you (removing the < > characters) with the relevant content for your mod. Fields that begin with "(optional)" should be completely deleted, along with their title, if you do not wish to use them or they are not relevant to your project.
Remember: Only post about releases - that means there must be a new download. Patches are fine, even if they don't include new content but avoid posting hotfixes in a new post. Instead, use the template to edit a link to the hotfix into your previous post.
All mods must be compatible with the latest version of Mount & Blade Warband.
All posts must be made within a week of the release for that version being made publicly available. If your mod was released before this thread was created, please do not post here unless you have a version which complies to the former.
Please use a good image hosting website, like imgur or local favourite, TWim.
As long as the release is new, it is completely fine to post an old trailer or screenshots.
