Intel To Release Graphics Cards in 2020

Users who are viewing this thread

When I first heard the rumours I thought it would be expanding on their integrated graphics to compete in the low/mid tier GPU market.
But it sounds like actual competition to AMD and Nvidia: graphics cards for gamers. But nothing concrete on the performance level so far.

It sounds super (over?) ambitious.
Intel CEO Brian Krzanich disclosed during an analyst event last week that it will have its first discrete graphics chips available in 2020

... the company’s strategy will include solutions for data center segments (think AI, machine learning) along with client (think gaming, professional development).

What do you think? Will it be watered down AMD cards, or serious competition in the high end?
In any case some more players on the GPU field sounds good...

Basically this.

I don't see why Intel would not be able to end up making quality graphics cards, it's not like they lack the funding or the brains to do it.
