You have no way to tell which gender your newly born child is! When you have a baby you should know if it's a boy or a girl!!

Um.. when you look the child up in the index it gives a summary of the child "he or she" is used there.

Then you have the names which not always but often is a tell of the gender.
I have no issued opening the index to see what it is, if I dont know it by the name alone.
Maybe in the message it should read "a healthy baby girl/boy" instead of just baby.

The encyclopedia does show the child's sex, but not until you've opened their page. When you're looking at a clan, it just says "child of so-and-so" instead of son or daughter, which is problematic because when they're below ~12 years of age, their image isn't shown. So you have to open their page to see if it's a boy or girl (whereas, for characters that're older, you can tell by the picture).

They could put some pink and blue colors in the image to tell the gender. Either directly to the art or an adjacent mark in the corner.
The female/male symbol is another option. ♀ ♂
