Resolved game wont let you build siege equipment

So maybe I'm an idiot but it's literally impossible to build siege equipment because iit is impossible to unpause the game. I made a seige camp then the battle sidebar pops up, I have 3 options attack send troops or leave. I can click the icons to que a battering ram but the game time is paused as long as the battle sidebar is up. Hitting the play or fast forward button does not unpause the game. So am I missing something or is this broken?

Hi, do you have any mods installed? If yes, can you try disabling all of them and verifying your game files through Steam?

no mods at the time it happened, it hasn't happened since, so maybe it was just a one time glitch
