I also find it strange he is going for the thick frontal cranium bone instead of the eyes.

Probably just easier to draw.

I went to Ostia as a kid, that place was incredible. I'd seen roman ruins in the north of England plenty of times as a kid but this place blew my mind.

I find informal amateur doodles like that way more interesting than big rennaisance finished pieces, at least historically. Got any more of those? I've tried searching for old doodles like that before, but it always comes up with the same Onfim drawings everyone's seen 50 times.
