Summary: If the player loses sight of the caravan it gets attacked 100% of the time by what appears to be a generically named "bandits" group. There is a decent chance though that the caravan survives this attack, and then roams around forever and never is attacked again. This is an issue because finding the caravan after losing track is incredibely tedious, and also locks you out of taking other caravan quests.
How to Reproduce: Don't escort the merchant caravan after taking the quest. After about a day or two after losing sight it gets attacked (by what appears to be a generically named "bandits" group, so I assume this is scripted as all other bandit groups are either named "looters", "mountain bandits" etc). In my testing the caravan has about a 1 out of 6 chance to survive, whether they are assisted by another party when this happens I am not sure.
Quest/Settlement Name (if related): "Escort Merchant Caravan"
Media (Screenshots & Video):
Version: e1.0.8
Computer Specs:
OS: Windows 10
GPU: gtx 1080
CPU: ryzen 7 3700x
RAM: 16gb
Motherboard: TUF gaming x570-plus
Storage Device (HDD/SSD): m2. nvme
A simple fix would be to make the failstate not dependent on the caravan being wiped by the bandit group, but the player not assisting in the fight and failing the quest if the encounter ends without the players help. This avoids the issue of the quest getting stuck, it also makes more sense from a roleplaying perspective, its an escort mission after all.
