Ember Gaming North American Persistent World Server

Welcome

Ember Gaming has decided to open and host a new persistent world server where players can rely on an able service by understanding and fair administrators. Ember Gaming is sponsored by myself, Lithane97, and other friends from the community. I am a full-time college student and work part-time at a grocery store, so Ember Gaming will be looking for a couple of administrators to help run the server, you can read about that in a section below. Ember Gaming wants to lay and be a part of the foundation for the Persistent World community. As fun as this mod is, it is a shame that it is not more popular. We want to change that; with a dedicated server and able staffing. Join us on NA_Ember_Gaming!

Rules

1. Random Death Match (RDM)

              - Do not kill someone unless it is for a valid, role-playing related reason.

              - War is always a valid reason for a kill, but make sure you are killing players of the enemy faction.

              - Personal affronts to one's honor is valid.(Ex. Thou's mother dost remind me of a cow!) Traditionally, this would be answered by request for duel.

              - Outlaw behaviors can be responded to with the sword such as robbery, threats to yourself or your property, or even trespassing.

              - Roleplaying activities in which all parties are consenting. (Jousting tournaments, competitive melees, etc.)

2. New Life Rule (NLR)

Most people understand this rule and what it entails. I will give you my version. If you are killed in a duel, or in a war, or by an outlaw, you are to essentially forget about it. At that point you would no longer have any valid roleplaying reasons to go back and kill that person because you are technically a new person. When you are at war however, it is understood that you will commonly be fighting against and killed by the same players of the enemy faction, so there is a little more of a relaxed attitude when at war. We do ask however, that if you die in a war, please spawn back into one of the castles your faction owns as it makes sense that reinforcements would come from friendly castles rather than out of nearby abbeys or other spawn points.

3. Combat Logging

If you are in a battle with another player (this should be for valid roleplaying reasons) and you are getting your ass kicked, it is not acceptable to simply log out. Call for reinforcements, retreat (damn coward!), or kill your enemy. We have scripts in place that should help combat this, but we expect players to adhere to this rule as not only playing fair, but also enjoying the game in the sense it is meant to be enjoyed.

4. No Meta

Do not use global chat for roleplaying reasons. If you are a faction leader and want to make an alliance with another faction, you must go to the faction's castle and converse with their leader using proximity chat. This is the same for every roleplaying reason you can think of. You can use global chat to talk with other players about out-of-character topics. Just keep hot topic discussion about religion or politics for example, to a non-flame-war level.

However, there are a couple of exceptions where global chat can be used in the following role-playing forms.

  • When declaring war, you must declare it three times in global chat.
  • You can post notices in global chat. (Ex. Notice: Bread being served at Praven City, 5 gold each.)

5. Adhere to the Administrators

Admins are in place to help regulate gameplay to make it as immersive into roleplaying as possible. Administrators should be respected and listened to at all times. If an admin requests that you do something, please comply and do so. We as administrators do not want to have to intervene if at all possible, but we will when the rules above are necessary or there are other forms of in-game abuse. If you have a problem with an administrator, you can report it on this thread or message Lithane97 on these forums and we will address your complaint. Let us all enjoy the game together!

Administration

At the launch of this server, we only have two administrators who are both full-time college students with part-time jobs, so we are looking for experienced members of the community to help us administrate the server. We want to provide our players with a fun and fair experience when playing on Ember Gaming servers. That being said, all administrators are expected to not abuse the tools and powers that are at their disposal. The administration of Ember Gaming will act swiftly on legitimate reports of abuse. If you think you have the necessary experience with the game and you have the time to contribute yourself to our server, feel free to post the following administrator application or message it to me here on these forums.
