Does the escape check happen at the same time as the ransom offer check?

Just curious, because every single time I've had someone escape it was at the exact moment the other faction offers a ransom for someone.

I've never noticed it. I would doubt it though. The only thing that I think relates to time is that lords are more likely to escape at night.
