In this week’s blog, we thought it would be nice to put a face to a name, so to speak, by sharing each of the factions’ banners with you. After all, this is Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord…

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/58

If the Nord influence is explained in-game by quests, random pop up monologues by companions  , and conversations, then I am down with it. They mentioned that taverns will have more life in them, so they can do more storytelling.

But here are my suggestions:

Do keep in mind that historically, some vikings lived in places like Greenland and Iceland. I believe that is where the viking culture is inspired from. They already added in weather change and season change from before remember? It is in one of their first trailers. I have a theory that the reason why the Nords invaded later on is because of the amount of Nordic influence they had in Sturgia. As I said from before, there is only one way to find out. We must play the game ourselves when it is released.

Just wondering about the Greenland/Iceland part here. You're not claiming vikings originated there, are you? Yes, they settled on Iceland, Greenland, and we're still finding Viking settlements in parts of modern day Canada and NE U.S., but the viking culture came from Scandinavia.
No I am not claiming they originated there, I was theorizing that maybe the banner color got inspired from the harsh weather of the settlers' homeland, being like the Greenland and Iceland we know and their new homeland(which is inspired from our world's Russia) which still has a cold environment. The blog did mention that the color of their banner symbolizes the harsh weather they have to endure which could point towards both their homeland and new homeland, symbolizing their adaptation to cold weather. Since the blog mentioned they sailed from their homeland, this proves Sturgia has some viking like cultural influence in their lands. Yes I know the vikings settled in parts of Canada and parts of the USA. And of course I know they originated from Scandinavia, thanks for reminding me. At the end, it is just my theory and I firmly believe that although the Sturgians have mostly early Vaegir(Which is Kievan Rus) culture, they also have some influence of Nordic culture which could have led towards the Nord Invasion 200 years later. Just think in reality, Norway and Denmark as well as Greenland, Iceland and Scandinavia are all to the north, Norway and Denmark are closest to Russia, maybe its similar in Calradia where there are nordic lands beyond where some of the settlers came from and then there are probably the natives of Sturgia. I hope this answers your question. Now I would like to ask, do you think this could have been one of the reasons why the Nords invaded? Because of how much influence they had within the Kingdom of Sturgia? And probably did not trust them, at the same time wanting more lands?
[/quote]

I get where you're coming from now. I just wasn't sure how Greenland/etc. played into what you originally posted. Also, to answer your question, I think it makes sense for a people, looking for land and plunder, to start in an area where they already have an idea of the land/culture/politics rather than just jumping in headfirst.

You guys should fix the Sturgian banner to have something slavic about it since you youself said Sturgians are inspired by the Kievan Rus,so Varangians and Rus , Norse and Slavic culture combined.I like how you made the people and the armor look the part but their banner shows nothing slavic about them only nordic. So i would suggest adding some slavic folk embroidery or a element of slavic symbolism like the : Kolovrat,Dazdbog symbol,Sunwheel,Swaryzica,Thundermarks ...there is a heap of symbols to use just make sure its a actual slavic symbol since there is alot of symbols that are classified as Slavic even though they are actually Norse or Celtic or whatever else that gets confused under slavic..I would post pictures but the forum does not allow me to post pictures ..
Thanks,I really hope you redesign the banner a little <3

You can upload pictures here: https://tw.greywool.com/i/
It gives you a forum link: "Forum'd". You copy it in the post and it appears.

Just like my flag ideas with bears on it.

Colors are good. All liked it. Only the coat of arms of Strurgia could be made closer to the Slavic theme, for it seems that this some kind of mixture of Maya and Nords with the Indians.

Look at the ancient runes, flags from the Slavic tribes and stuff. The Internet is full of beautiful Slavic logos with runes of Perun, and other beautiful emblems with an ethnic Slavic line.

In Google. On pinterest. And other photo galleries, you can find full of emblems, banners and flags in the Slavic mode.

Why are people *****ing about ths Vlandian banners being Lannister ripoffs when the gold lion is quite literally the most common helradic symbol in Medieval europe?

Honestly my thoughts are "would this be good for sales?" since people like GoT and you'll say something about the faction to use "something from game of thrones". Suddenly people expect lords to be ****ing their sisters and committing huge betrayals and attrocities.

And also be more clever than the rest put together, having a working war strategy, be beautiful and generally much more interesting than everyone else.

The one with the bear and the sun wheel is actually a Nordic sunwheel again, not a slavic one.As i said there is a bunch of confusion around these symbols but the red one with the bear and the wheel behind him is a germanic sun or on wikipedia Black Sun.

i like the bear head concept from zablafat (minus the fish) i like the color too, it feel russian, while also remind me of berserker image of viking, but with better quality bear head image like in jurgen example.

for the vlandia flag cant be help that it look like lannister flag due to the simplicity and the color, either use different color or add more symbol or different pose for it.

The golden lion on a red background is rather common in heraldry, but I think it does fit for the culture style in question. Very Norman/Angevin.
