When prompting to sell Mercs, Lords just say "I am not interested in military".

search for a lord with a party, not the governor type. Also maybe the lord needs to be at war to want soldiers. I haven't done this quest in a while, hope it helps

Kind of long to do...1 thing might work more often is to speak to a lord of a nation at war, especially if they are loosing.

Those are non-combat lords/ladies. Look for the ones with the title "Vassal of ..." instead of "Noble of..."

Yeah you need people leading troops. Easier to find them on the map if you have enough mounted footmen

If you can't find anyone to take them put them in a separate group and find a decent size army, have them charge and keep the rest of your troops back, rise and repeat till all of them are dead. You won't get the money but the thieving bastards won't take your **** anymore.
