companions lords deserting

I am in a bit of a problems and quite puzzled by that problems.  I play with brutality on so far no problems, I made my owns kingdoms and put some on my best companions as my lords. The problems is that even with relations at 100 and giving them plenty of fief  they are leaving me for other kingdoms one by one... I do not know why and now I would like to switch that cursed option that enable them to leave me like that  ( I want to keep brutality on) so if someone know how to prevent them from leaving and switch off the option in the game log  I would be very happy

Off topic but how do you turn brutality on? I have the newest beta so is it not in that? If so where is stable release download link.
On topic Are they by your capital? Do you see them every once and a while to enforce law?
