The current system can still throw a lot of information at you, mainly because of the volume of arrows that tend to be in the ground. Generally you want to be able to find things quickly because you are in a battlefield and often in danger.
It would be a lot easier to find what you wanted if the information was a bit more distinguishable at a glance instead of highlighting everything on the field with the same white outline, either simply highlighting what is relevant to you (bolts if you have a crossbow equipped, arrows with a bow, throwing weapons if you have those) in a different colour to everything else on the field, or colour coding basic weapon groups (Melee weapons could be red, bows/arrows could stay white, crossbows/bolts could be yellow and throwing weapons could be blue) or whatever combination of colours that would allow you to say "that's a javelin not a spear" or "that's a bolt not an arrow" or even just "that's a throwing axe".
