Resolved Cannot Reassign Roles of Dead Companions

Summary:
After my surgeon companion died in battle, I cannot assign his role (so, surgeon) to another companion anymore.

How to Reproduce:
Probably, by letting a companion with an assigned role die.

This BUG also happens if your companion leaves your party, such as when you make your companion a governor or if you form a new party with him. He will take his role with him.

The only way to reassign a lost role is to follow these steps:
1) Make sure your party is not in a town or castle.
2) Open your party list (press P on keyboard).
3) Left click on one of your companions. And then click on the talk icon under his name.
4) Ask him about his position in the clan.
5) Then you can assign him any role you like.
