Bright colours, weak script.  Lots of special effects, so many I wanted to puke.  Might be good if you're immature.

Prefer watching Zatoichi.  At least the 21st century remake had story elements.  And that ... 'Ichi' film with the blind girl was watchable.

The remake of Zatoichi with Takeshi Kitano is what made me look up the originals. I was soo happy to find the whole series of Zatoichi on hulu. They even had The Blind Menace. I dont know if they still have it because I cancelled my subscription. Maybe I will sign back up andgive the Ichi movie with the girl a chance. Have you ever seen Love & Honor, it is from the same director as The Twilight Samurai.

I'll have to search for the imdb entry, remind myself of films I want to see.  Watched sword of doom.  I guess its good if you're into it.

Blind fury with rutger hauer?  Watched it once recently, but it was a bit dull.

For me, all the samurai movies were slow.  I thought the start of yojimbo to be really boring, but when you see how it ended...  really made me watch it a few more times...  touching and well scripted, better than seven samurai if you ask me.

Twilight samurai, watched that recently...  heh, I'll check it out.

Wonder if they might do a 21st century remake with guns...  wonder if they can make it work....

Seven Samurai is my favourite movie of all time, you cannot go wrong with any Kurosawa movie, IMO.

The Hidden Blade is a fantastic new gem http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0442286/?ref_=fn_al_tt_9 .

One series I have not seen mentioned are the old Lone Wolf and cub movies, do not expect Kurosawa like story telling, but behind all the violence and harshness lies something poetic:

If you can, please avoid all dubs (watch in Japanese with subtitles), they are mostly just silly.
