Are headoffs random ?

I really like chopping people's heads of im with the bandit king sword and I wuld like to know how do I chop it every time i swing because sometimes i land a strong hit on the head and it doesn't get cutt off. ;?

I think so...
But as far as I remember, it usually happen when Im slash the head, from the higher ground, or horse, but I dunno about this, sorry...
and still need confirmation, but I think we can cut their hand too, but I could be mistaken...

I wish I could see if I had actually cut anyone's head off.  Due to the shortness of the sword I have to get so close to enemies that I usually don't see much other than them going down.  Especially if I am on horseback, it makes me wish we had some longer swords.

I remember going to Fort knox museum one time, and they had a display for General George Patton, who actually collected swords, and there was a Germanic Tribal sword there, and it was almost as big as a man.  So I don't think all swords in the game should be short swords.
