**Active Progress List** /--Planning the next release--

Well, not exactly the same.

We will have all the factions yes, the way troops are made, equipped, etc. will be different though.

I can't say different how exactly yet, mostly because we are still figuring out exactly how everything will be different. (so the way troop trees work will change, etc.)

But what will be will be unlike anything mount and blade has seen before!! (cue lightning, thunder and maniacal laughter)

We will also be making the native calradian factions better as well, so they will have the faith troops (or the equivalent amount of diversity to the SOD factions) again how the final troop compositions work in the future may be different. It will be the same kinds of stuff, just working differently.

That is of course if the things me and compy have talked about in the past come to pass.

also the mercenaries and such will hopefully make a come back too at some point.

I don't remember writing that. Either its fake or I have multiple personalities disorder. BTW, I also have an axe. That's not a problem, right?

Maybe we should just chop you up a little?

How many personalities do you think you might have?

Maybe we could just chop you up enough to get rid of the nasty one?

This is Panavosa, it should be your second amendment right to carry an axe!

I carry a two handed axe.... But I am a badass!

Lol, I carry a duel axe.
THROWABLE TOMOHAWKS!!

Hello guys, a question, will the income system in the next installment be rebalanced? In the last one it was possible to accuire insane ammounts of money from taxes, so insane in fact that my game broke and deleated 99% of it from my bank account. Now i don't mind retaining 100 000 troops but is it possible to get some sort of system in place to have cities sort of automanage themselves, so if they are making a profit they would hire troops and build buildings on their own and direct money to upkeep of said troops and not into the treasury, such system would insure that city is defensible and prevent the aforemented money dissapearing glitch. Maybe switch between direct control and automanage at will. Also, it would be good to have an option to dispatch messengers, at one point i was warring in foreign lands and i was far away from my established lands, i had a lot of troops there but my army on hand was weakening, i had to risk a trip back to my homeland to bring reinforcements risking the enemy attacking a weakly defended foothold i just gained in their land. It would be good to be able to send a messenger to owned fortifications (if they have any nobles of course) to send a regiment under said noble as reinforcements, now a messenger would need some time to arrive and he could be attacked in route(so maybe, possibly you could give him a small escort) but in situations like i had it would be very usefull.

Yes, all of that is planned to be rebalanced and developed.

We talked about the idea of messengers as physical entitities on the map, but there were some difficulties with that, but the idea of communicating and such was discussed and desired.

Also the way that troops, cities, economies is managed is planned to be massively overhauled. (to the point of rewriting vast amounts of 'vanilla' M&B code so that the code will be entirely brand new, rather than tacked over the existing code)

The state of the game right now was actually implemented so that people could test the new kingdom level stuff as quickly as possible. It was only ever designed as a test platform for that and is thus not balanced. Unfortunately with real life getting in the way, and also Compy's ambitions, knowledge and designs becoming much greater, the old plans were 'semi' thrown out, so everything has been on and off and delayed this whole time.

Minor additions were abandoned for the sake of a brand new, much larger, and much better system, removing many of the inherrent flaws in the M&B design.

In short there is very little that isn't going to change or be looked at!

You might want to rebalance the swadian knights as 288 of them plus me and my 12 companions was able to KERB STOMP a force of khergits, villanese and rhodoks numbering just under 1500, this was on my old 807 day campaign were I had a total tactics skill of 14 and the game difficulty was rated at just under 50% oh yeah jeremus and ymira were skill 10 in all the first aid skills don't know if that affects the battles at all beyond obviously helping more troops get ko'd rather than killed.

So, any info on how long will it take until the next release?
Will it still be TC or is it going to finally be the planned mod? Will it resemble the SoDGold gameplay on Calradia or is it going to remain in Ponavosa? (I suppose Ponavosa was created on the sole purpose of TC, right?)

No pressure, I'm sure you guys are doing an awesome work, as usual

I was wondering the same thing, I've been waiting months for a new release or a update of some sort. Quite dissapointed but I understand the troubles Computica is going through.

As reported in other threads, the development is on hold until Compy can afford to build a new computer, as his laptop is pretty much completely plopped.

As for the other things.

It will remain in Panovosa, you don't build a map that is bigger than the standard one for test purposes!

The map has and will continue to be refined, so that it will be epic, and there will be other mind blowing changes to the map as well.

All units will be overhauled to be strong/weak in specific contexts, but when you play on 50% difficulty, ofcourse anything you have is almost certainly going to beat anything the computer has, because all of your stuff will more than likely be set as stronger in the settings. Your Swadian Knights could probably have beaten an army of Swadian Knights as well.

Many of the features will not be returning to SODW in any sort of 'ported' form, as many of them have some inherent flaws and bugs due to some convuluted coding. Compy cleaned them up as best he could in SODG but they still remain somewhat unstable.

That being said, we do hope to bring back many of the features in some form, along with a truck load of new and original concepts.

No ETA.

Thanks for the fast response

Personally I always loved the SODG concept of being a refugee king in a foreign land trying to fend off a huge invasion, but nevertheless I'm really looking forward to play this whole new concept alongside its many new features
I'm sure it will be as worthy and fun as the first was back in its days.

That theme continues into SOD:W (Although we are not there yet) but this is very much the 'New World' and when done, that is how it will feel, so you will be an exhiled royalty having to start fresh with nothing but your wits and desire for power! (At least that is our first player concept, we have tentatively discussed others as well)

The Game is very much back to bones development wise, and all of the new systems and mechanics need to be built up to work with each other.

How will the same theme work on Ponavosa? Is Computica going to remove the SoD factions from the map so that the player will choose one of them to lead in this 'New World', just like old SODG? Or is it not yet decided?

Basically we are set after SoDG.

Panovosa was deiscovered by a great 'Coalition Expedition' of all of the factions that defeated the Imperium.

You are prince/princess of the Original SOD Hero (You in SODG) and you get washed up on shore and have to gather strength and forge a path to glory in the new world, if all goes to plan you will be able to rise in any of the current factions, (incuding an imperial remnant), and also gather support from mercenaries and even native Panovosans.

So you will be one of many people seeking fame and fortune in the new world with a desire to shape it in your own image.

So it won't be entirely the same, as every faction is in play, not just the calradians + one SOD. Each of the Nations regained what it lost to the imperium, and each is a full fledged nation again, you arrive shortly after the Colonsation of Panovosa has begun with every nation having founded a small enclave, and every noble seeking to carve out a piece of the New World for himself.

No not really, and there wouldn't really be anything to see at this stage, it would all look exactly the same as the current build, as all that has been worked on so far is the underlying code.

Is it possible that the source code of the mod or permission to edit it can be granted?

Since computica will be taking quite some time before the mod continuation returns, maybe the community can revive the mod. (or at least while hes gone)

Currently Compy is the only one who has it, so it would be down to him to release it.

I think at the moment the code is not functional because a lot of different pieces need to be made and changed to all work together again.
