2015-6 Brytenwalda Reworked pulling together the best features of BW submods +

Users who are viewing this thread

So it looks like I somehow turned on the Cheats and DEBUG option(s), because now most menus have a CHEAT! option and there are debug messages. Are those hotkeys? Thanks!

on the launcher when I click the drop down menu to choose the mod, the whole thing stops responding but this doesn't happen for any of other mods I use and I can play those just fine

@ilikemadeup:You should turn off the cheat menu in the camp menu. It might be under "Take an action". Having cheats on slows down the game and can cause crashes. I uses it all the time to debug.

Ayylol: That's odd. I would redownload. Make sure to take the mod out of the zip file and move it up one level in your directory.

Yes, it should. The Brytenwalda mod game folder should have the module.ini visible in it's main or top directory. That's all the Steam looks for to launch.

Hi gdwitt, thanks for the all development and reworked for BW.
I have question a character cretion problem with this mod. -I use25vC with PatchD- I want to create new character with high renown. Even if father: lesser noble or vocation: lesser noble, my character start with only 5 renown. I searched forum and could not find the answer. İt is a problem or normal thing for this mod?

Sory my bad english.

That must be a bug. It should be about 50 starting out there.
There is an easy cheat to increase it by 50 every time you press the button in cheat menu.
You could also bust the heads of 3 bandit groups to get 50.
You may need an item cheat or money cheat to get there.
I would do that for rapid progress.
Would you mind trying to start a new character and seeing if that happens again?

Update: I am working on a new patch that I hope to release next weekend.
I will make sure that it is save-game compatible with the last patch so you can port your game smoothly.
Please post your experiences or questions.

The following textures are missing.

spice_goods_spec.dds
spice_goods_normal.dds
spice_goods.dds

No matter how many times I download the mod they are not included. This issue causes rgl errors and crashes. Never had an issue with this mod until this version. I did patch it as well.

I thought that was in the last patch, but I will test again.
Do you know how to properly place the DDS files in textures?
It shouldn't cause a crash, just errors when you open a trade window that has spices.

Hello,
I have also been encountering this problem, though the rarity of spices means that it is not a major problem. I get the same (or very similar) errors, but they can cause crashes. You can Alt-Tab to the error message and close it down but later on it caused crashes as my save-file got bigger, as minimising games is somewhat unreliable.
Out of curiosity I looked in native M&B and Brytenwalda Repolished texture folders, but could not find the spice textures yet to my knowledge, I never encountered problems with spices. I had this problem with grain, but downloading Brytenwalda Reworked again fixed it.
One town (Caer Luit Coyt or Llys Pengwern) that belongs to the yellow faction just past the river on the Welsh border seems to use spice textures in the lord's hall, causing the error message to appear.
Finally, my faction is hostile to neutrals - including cattle. I was escorting some cattle for a guild master when one of my lords arrived and attacked them, in a desperate attempt to save his liege from the fearsome cattle. I joined in the battle and discovered that cattle are actually naked men with no gear whatsoever. As it turns out cattle are slaves...  do not butcher cattle for meat... Our heavy cavalry mowed them down in a slaughter to rival fighting Sarranids. Unfortunately it led to endless errors messages in the game log, so I had to reload a previous save.
Thanks for all the hard work on Brytenwalda.

There seems to be a bug when it comes to ordering troops to use blunt weapons only. It makes all regular weapons do blunt damage. I have to exit the game and load it again for that bug to stop. I thought you should know. I'm so going to exploit that bug for now, though.

That "bug" is my major innovation. Perhaps the only warband mod that does it.
It uses new Warband WSE functions to convert all the hits to blunts when you trigger it with the blunts command.
It should stop when you order fire at will or the battle ends.
Does it persist between battles? It shouldn't.

The next version is now posting.
A number of fixes are still in process, but many have been corrected, such as
--Battle Horn as non-leg item
--Spice textures are fixed
--Low-tier troops not using weapons in melee
--Blunt order no longer persisting between battles
--Interactions with quest parties no longer cause you to declare war on neutral parties like cattle (new faction)
--Party morale has been fixed somewhat. This will hopefully be 100% in next patch
--Updates to Textures and graphics by HootmAn. Thank you.
This should be save-game compatible. Future patches will be so.

@Dan113
Are you referring to the blunt order?
I tested it about 5 times and found it hard to determine if the new code works.
The problem is that without blunts, usually 3/4 of the enemy get wounded.
With blunts, usually 1/12 or so still die or get severely wounded.
So it may take more testing than either of us have done.

What I added is an order to use all weapons (opposed blunt order) at the start of each battle.
Are you using WSE?
If not, are they troops using fists and blunts only?

I didn't add anything to make it non-save game compatible.
Any other problems?
Thank you for the beta testing.
