And while the game includes quests and tasks to help guide you on your travels, ultimately, you are free to chart your own course and plot your rise to power using the many different game features at your disposal. In this week’s blog, we talk with, Rabia Adigüzel, one of our campaign team programmers who is responsible for ensuring that these different features and systems work together, and provide you with an engaging and fulfilling experience during your adventures in Calradia!

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/106

WILL THE CHARACTER AGE AND GET OLD SO THAT YOUR CHILDREN CAN TAKE OVER ONCE YOU'RE OLD AND DYING? DO YOU GET TO CHOOSE WHICH OFFSPRING YOU TAKE OVER AS?
“Yes! In Bannerlord, the player can die because of old age. At first, the player gets sick. Then the player’s hitpoints start to reduce daily. After a certain time, death occurs. During the decline of their health, the player can arrange his/her final wishes then, when the death occurs, the player selects an heir from one of his/her clan members that are suitable and mature. Then, the cycle continues. This process also applies by AI lords too.

Also, every mature hero can die on the battlefield (but this is optional for the player)."

YES! Its confirmed so take that all you heathen doubters and heretic naysayers! We're really getting the dynastic aspect to the game.

Thank you, Taleworlds!

Its a random chance to fill up the bar to persuade your target. Its completely based off RNG. I believe the Valor, Roguery, Charming and other descriptions of the action is going to influence your reputation with other people, but its still random chance.

Huh, interesting. Still not sold on the whole heirs thing. How is the game even adapted to it? And dying of old age? Is the in-game happenings slowed down to accommodate it? The political map of Calradia changes in lightning-fast pace in Warband, all things considered. Even with faster passing of years I can't really see it clicking together.
Me neither. Apart from dying from old age which sounds fine to me, how else will characters die? We know they can die in battle but how? Will they die just like any other soldier when reduced to 0HP? Will they simply be more prone to being wounded instead of dying like regular soldiers?

I think the rate at which time passes on the map is drastically sped up, (skip to exactly 11:00) in the clip there they go barely the distance from one castle to the next closest but the time changes from mid day to early night.
If you combine that with the fact the map compared to warband is almost 3 to 4 times larger and that AI lords no longer get magically spawning armies (previous dev blogs stated they had to gather and maintain them the same as the player) games should go through much more time before a single faction takes over.

I think the guards should carry the spears in this way, maybe even the infantry when they aren't in combat mode

I wonder how quickly aging occurs. What’s the timeframe for aging?

I forget the exact formula but I thought they said time is sped up in Bannerlord. Instead of a year being an actual year, it's the equivalent of 13 weeks or something?

Note that it says "In Bannerlord, the player can die because of old age."

Not the character.

Its 84 days

This blog was amazing. Great to learn more about the lineage system. If we start as an older character, will we have less playtime before needing an heir?

Bring on Bannerlord

Thanks for the explanation
But will there always be a right answer ?
Because like I said in the screenshot the second option is obviously the one to go with and anyone would choose that.

Hi Taleworlds, will you please consider adding in Nord Invasion DLC? I will gladly pay extra for it, even 50 euros

We implemented a tiny connector named “Issues”. When there is an “Issue” in a settlement, the settlement’s morale, food, prosperity, etc. decreases. If the player wants to solve this issue, he/she solves it with a quest. With this system, quests are not just an RPG element anymore and take on more of a strategic element.”

Is there an option to automate this with a companion or something or will I have to personally travel to each and every single village to do a quest to resolve these issues?

Hopefully the governors we can appoint are able to deal with Issues to an extent.
But I think it'd be good if governors require certain skills to solve particular types of issues, which would mean that you'd need to choose them carefully, level their skills accordingly, and maybe replace them with more suitable candidates as situations change. It'd also mean that the 'Issues' system isn't completely overridden, and still plays a part in the game.
"If you want something done properly, do it yourself" is an adage that's important for gameplay, I think - delegation should be possible, but not a solve-all solution.

What if we have no heirs?

Most likely it's game over for you then, lmao.
At least I hope so.

"During the decline of their health, the player can arrange his/her final wishes then, when the death occurs, the player selects an heir from one of his/her clan members that are suitable and mature."

I would surmise from this that you can select an heir from a member of your clan that isn't necessarily a child of yours, otherwise it randomly selects a suitable NPC for you to continue your journey.

but i am confused about the village production will it be upgradeable, buildable or manageable by the player if so doesn't that mean that the village will need some form of management by the ruler
