Yep. Ofcourse, Margaretha (it was her, wasn't it?) had started cracking down already when she heard Alva was being sent and she almost completely put down the unrest when he came and let heads roll. Ofcourse, Alva was following Fillips (odd how those names are different in Dutch.) 's plan of not allowing for protestantism while Margaretha didn't really give the protestants the proper punishment. (Which is why she got replaced on order of her lovable half-brother.)

Anyway, Fillips, or Philips, or Felipe had problems elsewhere at the same time.

Yep, that's true... you see, religion has being the origin of almost all the problems.  (please, do not argue about this statement here )

The Spanish Empire was too big (don't bite off more that you can chew), but he kept the hegemony by almost a century more (completely ruined, but hegemony at least...)

Ehm, I said statement (like a sentence) talking about my previous post...

One question... I've read somewhere that in Holland (dunno if it was just during the 80-year war) the mothers said to their sons: "if you're not good the Duke of Alba will come and get you "... really?  :???:
I know that sentence 2

Philly wasn't just the chief of Spain, though. He also was chief of most of the Habsburg holdings, wasn't he? His poppa certainly was.

Uhm, I don't think so:

From wikipedia:

In 1556, Charles abdicated his various titles, giving his Spanish empire (Spain, the Netherlands, Naples, Milan and Spain's possessions in the Americas) to his son, Philip II of Spain. His brother Ferdinand, already in possession of the Austrian lands and Roman King succeeded as Emperor elect.

I had an ancestor who fought with William of Orange way back in the day.
So I'm going to have to say Holland all the way.

That being said I love the Spanish scout lances!

Just getting started in it, but a very interesting mod. So far I like!

Well, I have found my family tree, but they say that Napoleon burned the family tree older then 1772, so I will never know

More colorfull and extravagant than the current local outifts of the region.

Mind you, we're working on some more extravagant clothes for merchants and lords as well, so this might even the looks balance
