What films should we remake? And with which actors/actresses?

The quest for fire might be fun to see redone with slightly less obvious prosthetics. And Ron Perlman is still around and looking every bit the same piece of rock he always has, so he could probably reprise his role too with little effort. As long as they keep anyone who had aything to do with 10000 BC sixty miles away that is.

Oh, by the trailer, it will be SJW as ****; it's filled to the brim with minority cowboys, so it quite meaningfully tries to **** on the past. I was surprised though by the lack of a female protagonist.

Which is why it was half-assed. Like A Fistful of Dollars, the themes of old vs. new and the decline and disillusionment of the warrior as an individual "hero", while applicable to the Wild West, aren't nearly as effective as they are in the feudal Japanese setting. The sword vs. gun comparison, which comes up often in Seven Samurai and Yojimbo, doesn't really work as well in the Western setting. On a personal level, I also disliked most of the characters in the original Magnificent Seven.

If your argument is that it ****s on history because it includes black/Mexican cowboys, you're mistaken. If your argument is that it ****s on the 1950s-1960s view on the history of the Wild West, then that's more accurate.

Oh wow, so you think they'll have those brokeback cowboys too eh?  What next?  The transexual cowboy?

Just thinking about that computer generated imagery, has anyone seen that latest final fantasy animation?  I thought it was pretty, realistic.  They'll put porn stars out of a job.

I think a remake of "All Quiet on the Western Front" would be interesting, but on the other hand, I think that it would feel too much like a World War 1 version of Saving Private Ryan. Any thoughts?

Sometimes I watch movies for the special effects.  I remember being impressed by Jurassic Park, but it had a very thin storyline.  I still enjoy 60's movies since they relied more on scripts than combat scenes, fight scenes, sex scenes and explosions...

A Saving Private Ryan where Private Upham has a conversation with a corpse for twenty minutes.
