Texturing for dummies

i got a problem i can't force segment all i have is uv mapping but no drop down list at the side, also when i click on continue after marking edges for cutting it just cuts them up into little separate pieces instead, what the hell am i doing wrong.

This kind of thread necro is alright.....

Anyways, when you have an object selected in wings, and you right click to bring up your options, try using the MMB to 'resegment' your item. This will allow you to edit how the faces are 'cut' and laid out on the texture sheet
