Ok so, I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but, right me if I'm wrong. Over on the over Mod Board, it said "...or if planning a mod..." should go here, so... here it is :].

This is my first mod. I'm hoping I can use this as a placeholder/place to keep records of my progress, whilst I'm working on it! Something like a DevBlog for a pre-game.

Name:
Shannadoah

"Medieval-Fantasy" is what i'm going for. If I can model/texture/animate better than I hope I can, I'll be adding some good old DnD-like creatures. Goblins. Wolves. DRAGONS (Wouldn't that be pretty..."Epic"?)
The mapname Shannadoah comes from a map I found in the loft a few years ago. Turns out to be my brothers (who made it when he was a tad younger than me). It was quite detailed and I'v been using it as a base in many-a projects since.
I'v run out of time tonight, so, I'll elaborate more when I get back from some meeting tomorrow :].

Gameplay:
Open-World with quests (Basically, Caldaria, but based on a different world).

Features:
New Weapons, Armor, Items, NPCs, maps, etc.

Right now I'm just harnassing my horse and gathering my resources, but I'll update whenever I made progress :].

Uhm... cooooool.

Do you have any more detailed ideas to share with the community so we can get excited and spend the next couple months/years harassing you to release it?!

... Sounds interesting. But yes, a better description of what you're planning to do would be nice. (For example, if historically based, what era, what kinds of weapons, etc...)

Wouldn't that be fun? xD. I'v put down some details.

Y'all can save me some time and hassle if you can find some compatable editors for me :]. I'v got an Item Editor and a Map Editor so far - just need a Troop Editor.. I found one, Elfman-or-somebody's Editor, but it was for much earlier releases.

FYI, Shenandoah is a Native American word, and a few locations in the USA are named Shenandoah, e.g.:

There's a famous song about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oh_Shenandoah

It's really not an appropriate name for a medieval mod.

I'll be damned. That's hot.

"Not Appropriate" is a harsh label. The world's name is Shannadoah, and it's a name i'v always used... Also, I could make that song into the game! (I play guitar/sing, so..)

Hmm...Virginia, huh... Well, that does kinda Null the idea, if it's a state's official song. =[[[

I'll check myself on that tomorrow.

Hey, it is fantasy. Don't limit yourself. I like that name, Shannadoah, whatever it mean.

That's always been my approach too - Novels to Games of my creation x]

Never mind that - if you wanna call it Shannadoah, call it Shannadoah.
No matter what random word you manage to string together from a handful of letters, you can bet your ass it means something in some language. It can't be avoided. E.g: That obscure writer Tolkien (maybe you've heard of him) has a character called Gamling from Westfold. Well, "gamling" means "old guy" or "geezer" in Norwegian, and I'm sure J.R.R. knew about it (being a linguist and all), but didn't give a crap. Nor should you.

Besides - it's your fantasy world, so it has whatever meaning or pronunciation you say it has. What's "appropriate" for fantasy anyway? Something that obeys a lump of set standards dictated by... whom?
Shannadoah. Go for it. And I'd like to see how you would pull off dragons.

Good luck!

Damnation]
Caldaria
It's not Caldaria.
I wasn't too sure about it said:
You could need the module system if you're going to make something veary awsome. And, dragons? Can you scan in the pic yor brother made?

I have the modules downloaded :].

Dragons = Awesome.

Scan the picture? Nope. I can't find it. I know it's around here somewhere, but I'v got nearly 2-decades worth of collections here =D. So, I'm working from memory on the map. I'll keep an eye out for it, just for you :]

EDIT:

How odd, Both Native AND Shannadoah crash on Settings Data... Or something... in the load-up screen. *reinstalls*.

EDIT#2:

Alright, all fixed and a completely new map made whilst I was at it...

Also, on the Dragons note.. That's a power goal :].

Haha, Stick a pike through my head and a -1 reputation to me, because there's no way I handle a candle to this ;D.

I'v never been any good with Scripts. And the fact error after error keeps slapping me in the face, well, I don't have patience for that. Damned Computers ;D.

I'll just stick around and help with Genereal Questions :]. Modding doesn't seem to be for me =[.
