Purchasing the DLC

I do not own Mount and Blade Warband through steam, I had got it before I knew it was on steam. If I were to buy the new DLC on steam would I still be able to play it? I don't want to get it and not be able to use it.

Steam will not allow you to buy VC without warband on steam

So far the feedback seems to be no, you would need a steam-version of WB in order to play a steam-version of VC.

I just want to make sure. Because my debit card doesn't work anymore so I was gonna use my steam cash. I just wanted to make sure. I hate making a purchase and it doesn't work. Or I could get one of those visa reusable cards and use that too.
