Im long time M&B player, played through M&B I , now with Warband and almost most well known mods like Prophecy of Phendor, Brytenwalda, Blood in the West, Floris or Gekukojo [or whatever that freaking name is] or AD1257 not to mention Nova Aetas .
But let me say clear:
If you are old gamer, without many time to spare, want some Duke Nukem oldchool freaking humour and fresh look into Mount&Blade series
[will be nice if You also like history and quite interested into WWI or WWII you will find this strange mod simply great] TRY RED WARS.
No knights here, no elves nor dwarves, no castles, no medieval set up.
Your Brain will get holidays while fighting mafia thugs, socialists or nazis or islamic or captalists [depends on the side You choose], shooting rifles [already many models], pistols etc. Overall feeling of this mod is just great, if it has just few more gameplay options like [at Gekukojo mod level at minimum or at AD1257/NovaAetas level at max] i will earse all other mods from my HD.
Gameplay is most important and even with current beta stage, Gameplay in Red Wars is TOP NOTCH, just few more features and it will be most enjoyable mod for Warband.
It has great soundtrack too (hehe) , even Vangelis is working for Red Wars team, not to mention some soviet orchestra

Other things is AI is just great, fighting often, it is very active and you will often see burned villages, overtaken cities and forts.
Ive just made my account here to recommend this mod for any player. Sorry need to go right now before wife steps in and take me out of the game.
WHAT MUST BE DONE [a little] to make this already GREAT MOD best one for M&B:
1) Make menu options like in that Japan mod [Gekukojouueuokeu etc.. ] to join Faction leader as mercenary group, to meet guild master, etc. [no need to make many advanced features here - but it will be great if You kidnapp Nova Aetas maker and make him cooperate with Swadian empire ]
2) Give us Machine Guns, more clothing and more items and more easter eggs
3) Bigger Map representing in simply scale real europe, north africa, England and part of USA , and part of Asia [Again map of AD 1257 will be perfect!]
4) More battle formation options [again look at great and simple system Gekujukokjoko has]
5) Kind of customization for the mod from the menu [again look at AD1257 it is perfect at this] .
6) Optional: Maybe WWI planes ? [WHY NOT!]
