I've just stumbled on a documentary about the first presidential campaign of Vladimir Putin. The entire movie is a collection of raw footage taken by PR specialists during Putin's campaign, and also gives parallel coverage of Boris Yeltsin's perspective after he had stepped down from Presidency. All this is put together to show Putin's rise to power from the perspective of a witness who happened to hold a camera in his hands, and had the chance to show the biggest people in Russia interacting together during the power transition.
I think it's worth to watch just for the footage alone. It's also a well-made documentary from an artistic point of view, if I may call it so.

Yeah, like in most sado-masochistic relationships.

Extraction (Netflix): If Hollywood made stock movies this would be it.
A mercenary is hired to rescue an Indian drug lord's kidnapped young son in Dhaka.
No one else would take such a suicide misssion, but our protagonist is a devil-may-care man tortured by his past, you know.
The story is very simple with a few twists that don't add much. It's all about the action.
It's nicely filmed with that yellowy, smudgy filter with overly saturated colours always used in Hollywood for locations in poor/developing countries.
Many scenes are well choreographed with bad guys who can't work together, fight or hit anything.
The acting is not bad per se, there just isn't much to work with. Hemsworth does a very decent job.
To kill time, I can recommend it. (A sequel is in the works)

Randomly decided to rewatch this one but the movie titled alternately as A Fistful of Dynamite or the unfortunately-translated Duck, You Sucker! is probably my favourite of the Sergio Leone Westerns. It's got pretty much everything I'd ever want from a spaghetti western. Give it a shot if you've got access on one of the numerous Balkanized streaming services or in a library or something.

I think it might be his best (and yes, I know Pulp Fiction).

Just watched The Old Guard. It seems Netflix has decided to specialize in mediocre action flicks.
A fantasy action movie about a group of immortals fighting through the centuries to make the world a better place.
The script isn't very good and the actors struggle with their characters.
I don't know how a 1-2 thousand year old person would act or talk like, but I don't think they nailed it

Just watched The Colour Out of Space, currently on (Canadian) Netflix. Probably the best adaptation of a Lovecraft story yet, it's definitely worth a watch if you're not too squeamish. Nick Cage is, as always, entertaining.

I just watched this very koo-ky late soviet dystopian scifi film called Kin Dza Dza!. It's one of the strangest films I've ever seen, but its strangeness is so consistent and coherent that by 1/4 of the way in, everything makes total sense. I enjoyed it a lot. It's a bit like the aesthetics of Mad Max but even more bleak and empty, and with a cast of characters who are straight out of Alice in Wonderland.

It's on mosfilm and you can watch the whole thing with subs:

Well, go figure, the doc I linked back in January is now a private video (it was posted by Deutsche Welle and some other guy), and it's barely possible to find it on YouTube. Haven't looked it up on other platforms though.
Edit: Google doesn't show anything either. Pity I can't remember the exact title.

Subtitles? No thanks millenial; I have an attention span, respect for the culture that produced a piece of art and a work ethic. I will learn Russian before watching it, as I do fo all foreign language films. Admittedly learning Russian doesn't usually help because most foreign language films I watch don't come from Russia, but in this case it should be invaluable. Neveretheless, Я благодарю тебя for the link, Tovarish.

I vaguely remember some Soviet comedy movies, which were always aired around the new year in the mid 2000's.
These are probably the most popular comedy movies in the Soviet cinema history:

Tenet is one long auditory nuisance.
There's constantly some orchestral/techno ambience playing, sometimes making it hard for me to hear the dialogue.
Had to turn on subtitles and turn down the volume to enjoy it. Other than that, it's a decent film that I don't fully understand.

The Midnight Sky is the most boring, high budget film ever made.

Wonder Woman 1984 has a bad story and completely lacks the charm of the first film.

Another Round is a film about 4 high school teachers trying out a theory that daydrinking (on the job) to become sligthly inebriated can make them more creative and social - and generally make their lives better. It won Best Film at the European Film Awards
It's a pretty silly premise since anyone knows that's alcoholism. But if you accept it, there's a decent story with good acting.

I have humorous movie for the end of year, today. And, it seems free to watch in youtube with en_sub(not sure if its legal or not, its just at youtube).
However, it's not a family movie. Contains slangs or sexuality as a decent movie.

I like some of its' smart humorous parts. So, i won't hide it just because there is slangs or other contents. Still good to watch carefully as an adult.
Have fun.
