Running into fight with allied troops on my side I noticed that allied lords are mounted and ride with other infantry in a shield wall. This is definitely not right. I'm not sure it is a bug, so I suggest to set lords' groups based on availability of horse and type of weapon.

Or if they have to be spawned in group I. They must not be mounted. It would be a fair fight then.
There was no way to manage them better. In my campain as well was loosing too many NPC lords.

If they're under your command you can tell them to dismount.
if they are leading that group then it doesn't matter what equipment they have. they are just like the player in this regard.
