Merc to Vassal questions

Ok so I was a Rhodock's merc for 3 months. During this time I was given a castle and two villages to take care of. Now at the end of the 3 month merc contract I renewed for another month and then decided to go for broke and become a vassal. So I talked to the king and did that. My faction relations with ALL factions changed, even Rhodocks, which I felt was kinda weird. However now I have to appoint a Chamberlain (my wife) and one of the options she has is to rend a representative to the Rhodocks and swear my vassalage to them. I thought I was already?  So I'm confused.

Have I become my own kingdoms? If so why are my properties still Rhodock Colour?

I was also asked to name my Kingdoms. ???

I think it's wise to wait for contract end, then don't renew then you could become a vassal to be safe, so less bug that way, I read about it often, but there is a bug when you are done merc then all faction reset, yet faction war with you when you was a merc still attacking you even you are not enemies on report.
