Issue with CONSTANT war engagment

I am currently experiencing near constant engagement of NPCs declaring war on me. This is making the game unplayable due to the lack of time in between declarations of war. I would like to be able to play the game without constant war! Any known bugs causing this issue? Any insight on how to engage with the game in a way to avoid multiple NPCs/kingdoms declaring simultaneously? I have read that this might be a result of the conspiracy quest line. Any truth to that?
