I think there was a mod that allowed you to switch out companions into other parties, but afaik it's never even been talked about for the base game.

I asked about this…somewhere. But no one saw/answered. Let’s get this idea some traction! I’d love to send along a surgeon with a clan member. Particularly since medicine only applies within a party, not army. So clan members are more at-risk within your army, in their own party, than within your surgeon-protected party.
