getting hit through my shield bug? (tournaments only)

sometimes in an tournament it looks like i get hit through my shield, the last tournament i did i was against one of my companions in the last fight and she attacked overhead twice,i proceed to block overhead twice yet i got damaged in the arm for 20-25 somehow, then i was defeated. Usually i find tournaments not that hard.

only seems to appear in tournaments, not on an open field

is this a known bug? or am i just blaming the game for my subpar fighting skills?

I've had this too, it seems pretty inconsistent and there is a bug where you character doesn't hold the shield properly and can get hit around the side of it.
