In Progress Game crashes when trying to Save

Summary: The game freezes and crashes when attempting to save. Occasionally the game saves fine for about 15 minutes before the problem shows up. I tried disabling Steam cloud saves, deleting the relevant documents/programdata folders and verifying game file integrity. Controlled folder access is off and no third party antivirus software is installed on the system.
How to Reproduce: Save the game (F5 quicksave or via the 'ESC > Save' menu)
