[FIXED!] - Solving Freezes Thread

Okay let's explain what happened. A long time ago I added the campaign and AI tweaks of Moto (https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=248544.0).
These make the map more lively by creating more fights and better AI  decisions making. One of the additions is that the marshall of a faction
levies troops at a random settlement with a surplus of troops if he's running low on soldiers. This script however resulted in an unending loop leading ultimately in a freeze as the
game is calculating forever. I fixed this and besides added a cap for recruited troops (75 troops).

I tested 3 of the uploaded savegames and they work! Download the fix below to have your savegames work again:

1) Make a backup of all .txt files in ...\Warband\Modules\Nova Aetas\.
2) Make a back-up of your savegames.

4) Open savegame and check if there's nothing strange (weird troop names, dialogs, errors, freezes whatever strange events, especially check dialogues).

This is a hotfix for those with the following problems:

1) Party disappeared, but still moving around (go to camp menu and click 'Fix for disappeared parties'.
2) Town miscalculations.
3) Freezes.

Nova Aetas becomes more and more optimized and polished as it is in
development for years already. Most bugs and issues as fixed, yet people
report new ones which for a large part, gladly, are minor bugs.

But one part of the reports regards freezes. Very annoying and very gamebreaking.
I hate them as well as you guys do. It seems freezes happen frequently for some
playing Nova Aetas. Others however can play 350+ days without seeing any bug.
There's of course the highly recommended 'save often AND to multiple slots'. But I want to fix this stuff permanently.

Freezes however are a very... annoying kind of bug. Your game just stops working
without leaving any clue to work on me for as developer. I've still an idea in mind
to get around this. First let us focus on the features of the freezez. Many
people report they're having freezes on day 126 or day 95 or whatever.
The game runs triggers at several times. Most of times weekly and some daily. Triggers
are scripts which are fired periodically. I'm afraid that some of the triggers
are too heavy or lead to faults in the code. This is only true of course when the
freeze happens at map travelling time only. Not at a dialogue or menu or scene.

Well here's my approach to fix the freezes. I need a savegame right a day before
the freeze happens. I can disable 100% of the triggers to check if the game continues.
If it does, I'm pretty sure one of the triggers are causing problems. Then I can
trace it back to a specific piece of code and find out what's going wrong.

Therefore I need your help. I want to use this special thread to receive savegames
with freezes. The savegame needs to be saved one day before the freeze, or better
a few hours. For additional info and bug fixing I would like to ask you to
enclose a rgl_log.txt as well. You can find this in your main ...\Warband\ folder
after playing a Nova Aetas session.

Ok i have no idea how to do this on this website but i saw no replies so i might as well try. How much can i embarrass myself eh?

That save should be about 3 or 4 hours from the freeze (ingame time) you can walk for like 3 seconds. Now i noticed alot of errors for finding textures but hey youll find out if thats why right. right?
 
Could brf/texture inefficiency be a possible problem? I noticed you have many more textures referenced in the brfs than there are actual texture files. 2900 texture files, but for instance there are 1500 referenced in deers.brf, 1900 in armor_b, plus all the rest. 

Could be the same with meshes and materials if you are just adding stuff from OSPs without clearing stuff that you're not using.

Also, your mat/tex aren't organised the same as Native. They have most of the mat in one big brf, most of the tex in another big one, then the meshes in various smaller brfs (as is typical). Could make a difference?

Just some thoughts, might be totally unrelated :smile:.
 
No because models and textures are mainly used at scenes and the freezes occur at certain times at the world map. They're definitely connected to triggers somehow.

There are duplicate textures because I tend to include all necessary textures per resource file. Because I disable some resources files
and then the textures won't show up. Disabling is necessary to speed up development and testing time.
The game ignores loading duplicates at start (check your rgl_log.txt) so it can't be harmful at all.

i cannot keep game-playing after freeze happened, even i force closing game and restart......

so, just like to ask here: if there was a potential solution to make game working after reloaded, or what u guys do after it happened?

HEY Quintillus i thank you for such great awesome mod... however i am experiencing the freeze/not responding error... managed to pass it 5 days in nova aetas however i am expereincing it again any ideas? i delete corrupted saves for me not to be confused sorry but if i find one again ill try to upload

Unfortunatly I experiance the same problems as the other guys. My game crashes around day 110.

Sorry, I know I'm not very descriptive.
Several Things:
1. How do you upload a save file (never had to before)
2. Other than the zendar swordsmen thing, I've only ever had a few missing item issues in villages.

To Upload your savegame do the following:
1. Go to C:\Users\YOURUSER\Documents\Mount&Blade Warband Savegames
2. Copy your sav file to a online storage like dropbox or a similar provider and post the link here.
3. Go to your Warband root folder (for me it is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband)
4. Copy the rgl_log.txt file to dropbox or a similar provider and post link here.
