do supply wagons work?

I sent my supply wagon on a run to a city I was next to-Temair.  I assigned Alefir to be the hero of the wagon but no additional troops.
He came back in 8 hours with 3000 schillings for a bunch of broken weapons.
GReat!

After a bad runin with 3 scotos parties, I reloaded the same game/character/party.
I sent the supply wagon with a bunch of broken weapons again, with Alefir only to Caisel and I was 1cm away.
I waited 2 days.
He never came back 25 days later, no supply wagon, no Alefir.
I spent those 25 days fighting around Caisel, hoping he would show up.
I even disbanded my part to see if he could show up.
I asked travellers for his location.
I checked all the prisons in ireland
I checked his status in the characters list and it says "location not known".

What happened to my supply wagon?
Where is Alefir?
Why can't I build another if he is lost?

it happened the same to me, finally my companion came back whithout the wagon and i can´t make a new wagon hundreds of days after

We update code for gift wagons, and we hope next version is run fine. However, load your old game and resend him like previus game, and when he back you with money, save

I believe it maybe too much work to make the supply  wagon runs work.
Why not integrate a supply wagon screen into your inventory screen?
For example,  let it add like 20 spaces in a separate section in the bottom of the inventory?
Even better would be an option to access supply wagon while you're talking to the merchants.
Even if the wagon worked, I believe it would get picked off by bandits easily and it's not worth the risk unless you're very far into kingdom building and have extra staff to attend to it.
