Greetings warriors of Calradia!

In this development update, we take a look at some recent changes in e1.5.0 and e1.5.1.

As always, a text version of the video can be found below!

Greetings warriors of Calradia!

We’re back again with another development update. This time, we’re taking a look at some of the recent changes that made it into 1.5 and 1.5.1.

So, let’s get to it!

DIPLOMACY IMPROVEMENTS
We recently introduced some huge improvements to how the AI calculates and votes on war and peace decisions. This change looks to address some of the issues that led to snowballing; prevented factions from recovering once they were on the back foot; and in some cases, could lead to long periods of inactivity on the world map. Now, the AI tries to make much more logical decisions when it comes to voting on war and peace. To learn more about this, you can head on over to our forums where the developer that worked on it shared a detailed post explaining the changes: a link can be found in the description below.

DEATH SYSTEM
No matter one's station in life, the Danse Macabre unites all. And now, this applies in Calradia too! From growing old and passing away peacefully, to being run down on the battlefield while still in one's prime, nobody is safe from Death’s embrace!

CAPTAIN ASSIGNMENTS
Companions can now be assigned to formations from the party screen. Once a battle begins, the companion will be assigned as the formation captain, providing formation-wide perk bonuses to their troops. If the captain dies or flees during battle, the next eligible companion in the same formation will take over as the new captain.

PARTY TRACKER
You can now keep track of your own clan parties and faction armies on the world map. A marker is automatically created for each clan party and faction army which you can choose to keep on screen at all times by clicking the small circle at the top of the marker.

FIRST-PERSON CAMERA FIXES
Many of the clipping issues while using the first-person camera mode have been fixed, allowing you to become fully immersed when experiencing Calradia through the eyes of your avatar.

ENCYCLOPAEDIA FAVOURITES
You can now keep track of encyclopedia entries by marking them as favourites. This will make the favourited items appear at the top of their respective lists.

BARBERSHOP
Started courting? Getting a little tired of that shabby beard? Perhaps you want a new haircut to reflect your change in status? Well, it’s time to head to the new culture-specific barbers that can be found in the centre of each town to freshen up your look… for a small fee of course!

NEW STURGIAN OUTFIT
After visiting the barber, why not treat yourself to some new threads? This new light tunic features Slavic style patterns from Sturgia’s finest embroiderers.

WORLD MAP CHANGES
A number of visual and gameplay changes have been made to the world map.

On the visual side, the geometry and texture details have been improved, visual problems with settlements have been resolved, and small details like roads and paths have been added to make the world look more realistic.

Gameplay-wise, pathfinding has been improved, some settlement placements have been moved, and some village production types have changed for balance and lore reasons.

REPLAY SYSTEM
Finally, we want to take a quick peek at a multiplayer update that is in the works. The replay system will allow players to save replays of their multiplayer matches. Right now, the system has basic functionality and is lacking some UI elements, but eventually, it will be similar to replay systems that can be found in other multiplayer games.

And that’s it for Development Update 3!

Thanks for watching! Leave a comment below to let us know what you think and we’ll see you next time.

Does the massive army on 0:16 means we will see larger battles with more units ?

A bit dissapointing compared to the previous development updates. I think it's better to focus on major features that are being worked on, like the replay system, which was very cool, instead of padding the video with small ones that already made it into the game.

We will try to include some more upcoming things in future videos, but we want to make sure they are somewhat ready to show before we talk about them.

I think that the replay function of the multiplayer should be adopted also in the single-player version. We should all be able to see our battle replay
Just my thought

I want to see more of what you guys are working on. We already know these things from patch notes. I don't think most people would get excited hearing these things again. Even if what you are working on is not complete, I want to know about it. We still don't know what to expect from the game.

I understand your point, but sometimes we want to present some of the changes to the game in a different format so people who don't check out the patch notes regularly can keep up with the development of the game. As for showing future updates, we will do that when we can, but only when we actually have something to show.

@Callum @AVRC Is there any updates as to when the captain mode balance patch will be added to the game? The current state of captain mode is in shambles due to 1.5 so we are really in desperate need of an update to fix these issues. Unfortunately we had to play both our Semi-finals and Grand Finals matches on 1.5 and this limited the classes and strategies that captains were able to use severely and thus was kind of slightly a disappointing conclusion to such an amazing season of games.

Idk, If it was just my eyes... but while the video was showing the map, the sky seemed to be clipping a little bit when day/night cycle is happening.

i'm confused, the barbers are already in the current beta patch, but the hooked spears announced in the last development update video are still not implemented.

I think they might be working on formations like that. There is no way they would put that scene for no reason, I guess this was a tease for what's coming next. In fact, it would line up with the previous "improvements" they have made on formations and combat (they have reduced the AI's ability to fight the player, and thus, reduced the computation needed to perform the same battles, enabling bigger battles). My theory is that they are trying to pull of system like total war games where the 1vs1 is not that important and formations play a larger role, but, because of the nature of Bannerlord combat, it would be like something in between.

Still no official banners in Bannerlord? Or proper sieges? Hmm.. Strange

I mean I do get that diplomacy fix was necessary, so thanks to mexxico about that, and thanks to team about other minor stuff but lack of scenes/battlefields + fundamental stuff like sieges are quite important which makes the game feel quite dull.

Why don't we have a camera perspective like this?
You are not talking about the campaign map camera, right?
