Hey lads, I'm getting back to a story I started writing a while ago, 'bout some Japanese soldiers in the Second World War, naturally. Do you folks have any recommendations for non-modern, contemporary to World War 2 or earlier music from Japan or China? That would be a huge help.

Cheers,

Seeing as to how most of the music came directly from the Allied or Axis forces, I'd say anything that was on during that time. I'm sure if you look it up, you can find information about it.

http://zhidao.baidu.com/question/48248860. It's includes a list at the bottom and anything in double angle quotes are names.

《大刀进行曲》(麦新词曲)、《到敌人后方去》(冼星海曲) and 《游击队歌》(贺绿汀词曲) are probably the ones you're looking for, they're the most popular anti-Japanese ones.

You can probably find videos of them on youku if you're interested.

There were traditional far eastern music which I will go look for now.

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Japan hopfully this helps till I come across of something.

敖包相会。Translated it means something like "outdoors meeting", but given the context it could mean "Missed rendezvous" or "Hoping for a chance to meet". Also, postwar, 1952 to be precise.
