There should be an option in settings to deactivate this behavior (or dont pause before you ALT+Tab).

I am not at home to check but this is the most relevant info I found of its location

There is a setting you can hit to turn that off in option, cant remember exact name but 4rd tab from left in options, NOT campaign then scroll about halfway down, its near the sound off while tabbed

It is still in game. options/Gameplay Controls 5th togle option. "Stop game on focus lost"
