A few things I hope are fixed in future after starting new playthru 1.4.2

  • Economy seems flat now. By that, I mean the prices seem very much the same from city to city, regardless of distance. Its hard to get 'good deals' anymore.
  • Level 15 onwards to starts to feel grindy. You just dont seem to get anymore levelling ups. So things kinda come to a standstill. Forced to change specialisms.
  • Just annoyed you can still make 140K Dinar javelin with 3 simple, cheap elements at this late development of the game. As soon as you can do this, trading / caravans / workshops become pointless.
  • Dying in battle. When this happens the AI kicks in and all hell breaks loose. You watch your archers doing the tango and not firing off an arrow. You watch your Top Tier infantry get destroyed as your allied AI army hangs back on a hillside somewhere.
I like the game, just hope they find, grab and hold onto concepts of re-playablity. The key to any successful game.

Yes the grind to get to a point that you can smith some money is brutal. Finally can make 30k denar swords at level 15 and can finally start financing an army. Was a brutal start economically with this character(1.4.1 main branch).

Updating old saves to this version went very well but starting out from scratch was a painful grind.

It used to be fun being a trader, but that has been largely snuffed out in an ill advised effort to make the game more of a grind.

I decided to have a smith play through in my last game, now I don't want to do it again ever. Too much grind. At least the system should open new parts based on he direction you take not just randomly. You can play for 20 hours and not unlock the part you need.

the grind
Make 20 Khuzait Raiders (steal herds for free horses)
Annihilate minor factions near towns for easy prisoner dumps
get married for good gear
There you're ready for endless war in whatever way you want it.

No smithing, no trading, no quests
just kick ***

Dying in battle yeah but don't

Marriage provides gear?

BTW, I agree. I'm sitting on 130k and I can get a lot more. 130 troops clan tier 4. No shortage of money. Just go mercenary and ransom prisoners.
In particular I go for someone who appears to have a noble bow. They may also have t6 armor with stats that you may never ever ever see in shops or loot.
They will often have the factions special tournament horse and a sword worth 10k.
Getting hitched early is a really really good move.

I screamed about the economy in numerous threads as I mostly play as a trader, and after the stabilize patch I stated the non fluctuating prices were bad, of course that effects caravans as they can't make profits that easily. I had to completely redo my price list. I know all prices when to sell and buy by heart and had to learn a new one. I asked so many times for a "tweak" to the economy but I didn't get much support from the community so here we are.

Playing 1.4.2 as Aserai
I dont understand why a desert horse costs 354 Dinars at a horse trader farm in Aserai, then you travel 1000s of miles north to Valandia and desert horses are 100 Dinars cheaper.....Economy and logistics need to make more sense.

The Aserai area probably had more desert horses and a caravan buy'd them, making the price go up.I'm not saying it isn't stupid and bad but it's probably something like that.
