I have had this mod over on nexus for a while http://www.nexusmods.com/mbwarband/mods/5871/? but thought I would post a desription here to get some feedback.
This is a small mod of Floris Basic I made for myself, so that troop trees and item balance more closely matches mostly 15th C and early 16th C warfare , minus the firearms. It's still a draft but works so far. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions, if someone could let me know how to add something like PBOD to it that would be particularly appreciated, I have tried a few times but my knowledge is very basic and I have so far been unsuccessful. Also, would really like to know how to make it so that someone takes damage when their horse dies underneath them and they fall- this would have been an important aspect of anti-cavalry warfare, but I can't work out how to replicate it.
- Note: Lords' equipment/skills haven't been changed. For my own gameplay the time-benefit ratio just isn't worth it as it doesn't really affect much beyond aesthetics.
Also includes textures from burgonet 16th century by Barf and Shredorz 15th century Polearms, and couldn't have done without Morgh's Editor.
Installation: Just make a renamed copy of floris basic, then copy the files into the folder.
***Changes v1.1 - Minor tweaks to troop equipment, changed halberds carried by guard captains, made helms of vaegir knights consistent and they no longer carry estocs, swadian voulgiers now have polearm voulges instead of two hand voulges. Should be plenty compatible.
***1.2 - Fixed so Reiters now have guaranteed ranged (crossbows)
***Changes v1.3 - Expanded mercenary trees to include harlberdiers and sword-and-buckler men. Khergit veteran horse archers removed throwing weapons to ensure bow. Fixed Sarranid troop upgrades, both Sarranids and Vaegirs should now have more cavalry.
***v1.4 - Further fixes to troop upgrades.

Gameplay changes:
- Item balances have changed. Shields are no longer as important: most troops don't use shields, and the damage points of shields used by standard troops who do have them (with the exception of crossbow pavise) have been greatly reduced (though as a player you can still be invincible behind a steel shield you buy). However, Plate Armour is now around three times as protective as it was in the previous games. Polearms, particularly with the inclusion of the 15th century Pollaxe, are now actually effective weapons, particularly against armoured opponents. Horses of standard troops are also more killable, making archery potentially more effective in staggering a cavalry charge.
- The difference between blunt, piercing and cutting damage has been increased, with armour now much more effective against cutting damage.

Troops:
The five kingdoms are the same, now mostly based on at least somewhat authentic renditions of 15th C/early 16th C armies, at times combining elements.

Kingdom of Swadia (France)
A kingdom with a large nobility, fielding superior heavy cavalry, and able to mass heavy cavalry more readily than other kingdoms. Relies particularly on the cavalry charge, though some Knights fight dismounted with the pollaxe.
Features:
- Heavily armoured cavalry of varying skill from as low as level two, allowing for more heavy cavalry than other kingdoms in a given battle. Best heavy cavalry in the game.
- Dismounted knights (not quite as strong as Kingdom of Nords), dismounted and mounted crossbowmen and spearmen make up infantry; the latter are not as well armed and armoured as the similar Kingdom of Rhodoks.
Top tier troops:
Swadian Knight Chevalier (heavy cavalry)
Swadian Cuirassier (heavy mounted crossbowmen)
Swadian Dismounted Knight (pollaxe-wielding plate armoured infantry)
Swadian Veteran Crossbowman
Swadian Veteran Pikeman
Swadian Voulgier

Kingdom of Nords (England/Ireland)
Preferring generally to fight on foot, combines plate armoured nobility with a well-armed militia of archers and billmen and agile professional shock infantry
Top tier troops:
Nord Knight Vanguard (Dismounted knight wielding pollaxe)
Nord Mounted Knight (Heavy plate armoured cavalry)
Nord Sergeant (mail-and-plate armoured billman)
Nord Retinue Longbowman (excellent archers, armed also with maul, in mail)
Nord Gallowglass Retainer (shock infantry, armed with axe, sword, small shield and heavy war darts, in mail armour)

Kingdom of Rhodoks (Holy Roman Empire/Italy)
Reliant primarily on a highly professional infantry army with superior pikemen, swordsmen, halberdiers and crossbowmen, though also has mounted nobility and heavy mounted crossbowmen.
Top tier troops:
Rhodok Doppelsoldner (fierce two-handed swordsman in heavy bnw armour)
Rhodok Guard Captain (heavy halberdier in heavy bnw armour)
Rhodok Pike Sergeant (superior pikeman in mail-and-plate)
Rhodok Reiter (mounted heavy crossbowman)
Rhodok Sharpshooter (excellent crossbowmen with pavise)
Rhodok Gothic Knight (plate armoured mounted nobility)

Kingdom of Vaegirs (Eastern Europe: Poland and Russia)
Combines the heavy plate armoured noble cavalry of the above Western armies with the horse archers of the east, though specialising in neither.
Top tier troops:
Vaegir Knight (plate armoured heavy cavalry)
Vaegir Horse Archer
Vaegir Dragoon (light mounted crossbowmen)
Vaegir Marksman Guard (excellent archers)
Vaegir Veteran Halfpikeman (lighter armoured, with shorter pike than other kingdoms)
Vaegir Guard (heavy bardiche, mail or lamellar armoured shock infantry)
Vaegir Sharpshooter (very good crossbowmen but lacking pavise)

Sarranid Sultanate (various eastern/muslim armies)
Highly varied, mobile and skilled troops, though lacking the plate armour or anti-cavalry pikemen of western counterparts.
Top tier troops:
Sarranid Mamluke (in mamluke mail, uses shield, heavy cavalry)
Sarranid Sipahi (mail armoured highly skilled horse archer)
Sarranid War Elephant (terrifying war elephants, mounted by men armed with crossbows and jarids)
Sarranid Janissary Crossbowman (very good crossbowmen, but lacking pavise)
Sarranid Janissary Archer (excellent archers)
Sarranid Guard (mail armoured, highly mobile shock infantry armed with axes and thrown weapons)

Khergit Khanate (Mongols/Tartars)
Most skilled horse archers by far, able to outrun and outmanuvre opponents with fastest and most agile horses in game, but lacking variety.
Top Tier Troops:
Khergit Veteran Horse Archer (superior horse archers)
Khergit Lancer (also aimed with bow and two handed mace, but also a lance for finishing off broken armies and slightly better armour)

Mercenaries (Various. Those that mimic Rhodoks are typically a step below)
Top tier troops:
Pikemen
Crossbowmen
Guard Halberdiers
Sword-and-buckler Men
Hired Blade (two handed sword)
Condottiere (mounted knight)
