The barrier things on map are actually some sort of rivers or canyons - and in map editor you can find objects called "bridges" on some of these places on the "grass". Problem is your hero doesnt take account of them in his road calculation before he bumps into em. Sometimes, on lower levels, that hurts.

As for the party templates, they are save-game compatible. Just that they work for all new-coming parties only, as the ones that are already in the game have no use for templates. Kill the lord - he respawns with the new template used. Same goes for changes to bandit parties.

Some russian guys here got a superb idea for some1 to script - make player's party behave like a Lord's party at some points of the game. More precisely - make it possible to turn on auto-follow command when the marshal/king gives you an order to follow them. Or at least, before the module system is out, make it so that IF you select follow mode just via right-click, no diaglogues appear when you catch up with the guy, when the military operation is taking place. Not sure its possible to code such a thing before the module system though.

Hi, first, sorry for my bad english. Second, thanks for some great tweaks. Third and most important, one more tweak i tried to find, but didn't: Theamount of xp given with ctrl + x in cheat mode.

I played my dude to lvl44 honestly, now i want to play around. But to hit the ctrl + x about thousand times per level is just too f***ing annoying. So can i tweak it to 10 000xp, 50 000xp or 1 000 000xp per hit of the crtl + x?

    Thanks in advance

Errrrrm. You really want to drink all the water in the ocean using a spoon? To get level 60+, you need around 25kk exp I think, while it was something around 5kk for level 45.
Isnt it easier just to export your character, open it in notepad and set something like 10000 str for 2.5k+ hitpoints and 1-hit kills and 200+ agi to run faster than a horse and other things which work "just like the cheat mode"?
Or just set un-allocated skillpoints to a high number and start clicking again your thousands of times to get some 400+ masteries - or just type in the number in that same export char txt file. As easy as that.

The export file contents, pun in CharExport folder(and probably name like your character, e.g. Eric.txt).

Omg, you havent heard about it yet? World of Goo is out!

Well, as I said before - can take ages to finish each level with "perfect" score, but in some levels even finishing at all is problematic.
Its FUN and your brain gets something to eat too, both creative and logical - that's just what's needed from an indie.

As for lemmings, they were a lot more plain and not as interactive and even though I have em right here on my hdd, I'm never ever going to play them again.

Could be fun to add a bigger piece of code into the 2nd/3rd defense stages so as to make the amount of defenders random. Like 2-5 per spawn point vs your 5 guys.
Too bad these mini-games are mostly cramped in really small rooms and it could be  a bugger.

As for having a country of your own without a claimant - was me who tested it out, with the "hack" thing that makes the game think you are serving a pretender. You get the dialogues which you would normally get if you were helping the pretender before he actually becomes a king - which is giving out fiefs and castles. A bit buggy(as you can screw up all your relations with all the lords you recruited), but its working.
And lords sometimes lose their brain if you ever order them around(tell him he's free to do whatever he wants - and he just stands there too happy to move) and I dont think you even get a marshal, ever.

    Hey I have a question:

After editting the script according to MageLord's post for "Changing the way the king gives new land to", I get a crash each time the game almost finishes loading initial screen with the ini files etc. I only editted the value to give me 2x chance if I captured a castle by myself and I also gave me 20x the relationship bonus.

After editting those I try to run the game and it crashes every time but the original script.txt works. It may have something to do with Vista's admin access? I"m not sure.

Another possibilty is that I edited it wrong but I followed the instructions on this page:
    http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,46290.msg1219470.html#msg1219470

Basically I changed the value of the 3 (the game originally multiplies by 3 then divides by the 2) to 4 to make the bonus 2x. And I changed the last value highlighted in yellow (the relationship) to 20 to give me a bonus of 20 instead of 2.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.
You messed something up. Probably changed the wrong number, as they are repeating sometimes, like the 2s and 3s.
And wth - why divide 4 by 2? Put 2 and 1 instead!

TheMageLord, you mentioned that it is possible to convince other lords to join our rebellion (even without having pretender with us), but is it possible to give them fiefs? In other words - is there a way to make the pretenders dialog "who to give this fief" appear without having the pretender in party, for example by assigning it to one of companions?
If I remember correctly - as long as you have the quest taken, you are "representing" the king-to-be and can recruit lords and most likely give them land too(unless the pretender does it).

Even if you "finish" it, there is still OCD to do.
Press Escape->OCD to see the requirements. And getting all missions in all the chapters "flagged" will take tens if not hundreds times the time it took you to get to the last mission of the last chapter.
So far seen some guys with 697 balls in the tower mode, but dunno if that is the maximum.

As for UnReal World it gets boring too fast, even if you choose one hell of a difficult scenario...

And the latest version is buggy too with things like invisible enemies and constant crashes, guess thats why you're still around.

AFAIK, what you've highlighted for the deserters are their culture and hostility towards the player, there is no way to set what/who spawns in a deserter party.
You so sure about it? Because Im, somehow, not.
Started playing CalradiaRising mod just yesterday - 100ish deserter parties, having 5x(1- of each conutry's units named deserters(thats the template) + over 100 real deserter units, like rhodok crossbowmen.
You can affect deserters parties by setting a template for which units are a must in there and also there is probablt a script/trigger that makes a deserter party in the first place - it should contain a script, similar to player's recruiting in village. Triggered by some X(more than X deserters in an area from all parties), amount of units and their upgrade chances depending on some Y value(possibly player's level), contry/area Z spawns a party of deserters.
Dont think the amount of deserters matches the amount and type of unhappy guys who ran away from your/lord's party because of low morale.

As for the "being the king" mechanics - it has some "features" or maybe bugs in it - giving a village to some lords decreases relations with part of/all others and +5 with this one, while giving to another just gives the +5 thing - personal relations with former enemies - if you give land to the former lord's archenemy, he hates you - you get a penalty equal to their relations(if they were at war with -50, you will get +5 on one lord and -50 on second one). So hard to be a King.
That's actually the reason some lords even agree to come to your side - their AI King made some "wrong" decisions while sharing the captured lands, so some of them got negative relations with the King thus giving us a possibility to get a new lord for our own country. Its a 0..100 random roll to get the lord after you set your reasoning and the base chance, depending on lord's happiness about his country/King.
This thing might need some tweaks altogether, if a King-mode is to be added in some Mod, as with each captured object even the AI King gets more penalties on relations, than bonuses. Especially with his equation thing, which doesnt even let him make a "best choice" according to feelings of some sort - its pure maths. So after some country captures a dozen of objects, you can just come over and recruit every second lord without any trouble, as they will all be on negative terms with the King by the time. Why only half - because with each guy you get, your persuation formula gets a penalty, for you already have some of the lord's "archenemies" in your country.

The trick to Almerra Castle is to lead your men around the castle, and kill the snipers on the walls. Once a sufficient number of snipers have been shot down, you can send in your men.

i knew that... but the first wave of my troops only had 4 archers... can't do anything much with 4 marksman
Thats what superheroes are for?
Maybe if all sieges had 3-4 ladders - or all sieges had a siege-tower, some places could be taken without a superhero.
As it is now, its all about running up the ladder first and jumping over the enemy heads so as to get to their archers.

    Building up an army?

Training gets exp on per-unit base to each unit type(only if troop lvl is below trainer lvl?)
Example(random numbers): you need 800 exp to promote one man-at-arms into a knight and your training lvl gives each unit in your army 80 exp per day.
If you have 10 man-at-arms - their unit type will get 800 exp totals and 1 of them will get promoted. On day 2 - none gets promoted, as they got save up only 80*9=720 exp. On day 3 its 720+720, on day 4 its 8*80 and etc. So having 1 last man-at-arms will take around 10 days to promote to a knight.
Battle exp - divided between all units evenly, and added up by type same way as training. So 10 man-at-arms in a 100-man army with 10 knights being the only top-tier units(no more upgrades possible) will get 1/9 of all the exp(100-10=90 total units needing exp to lvlup, so 10/90).

Also, an exping advice. When the battle is over, there are two experience phases, 1st one accessable only if there is at least one prisoner or recruit(the capture/recruit screen).
Thing is, here you can allocate experience the units gained directly from taking part in battle - what or who units of each type killed - that gets sumed up by unit type again.
If you upgrade units here, then the next experience phase is the one you see on the world map - experience from the battle as a whole, divided between all units.
And the catch is that if you change a unit's type in 1st phase(upgrade), on second phase he is counted in the new group.
Example using upper example: an army of 10 footman, 1 man-at-arms, you.
After battle in capture phase 9 footman can be upgraded. Total battle exp is 960.
If you upgrade them, in battle exp phase you have 10 man-at-arms,1 footman and 1 hero. Each unit gets 1/12 = 80. 10 man-at-arms get 800 exp total and thus you get 1 knight.
    Results: 1 footman, 9 man-at-arms, 1 knight, 1 hero.
If you do not upgrade footman in phase one, the 2nd phase is 1 man-at-arms with 80 out of 800 needed exp and 10 footman, ready to get upgraded to man-at-arms.
    Results: 0 footman, 11 man-at-arms(+80 out of 800 reserved exp), 0 knights, 1 hero.
    See the difference?

Have any strange things already happened to you in 1.003?

Had some interesting moments too, problem is most interesting things are in action so a static printscreen wont do the trick and didnt have fraps at the time.
Realistic things, happened a few times - a guy on a horse gets killed, his foot get stuck in - dunno the english word for it - place where u actually put ur feet while riding - so they get dragged around by horse, with their foot stuck for some time. Not sure it was coded this way - so its a strange bug.
Corpses falling from walls in sieges sometimes stop in air in different poses and never reach the ground.
The classics - Arrows getting stuck in air. Happens when the real texture size is bigger than what is drawn - mostly near walls and some barricades(cant hit body which is clearly seen, only head-level arrows pass w/o hitting invisible obstacle)
Horses sometimes partly go underground when they get killed, usually lanced - once had all lower body underground, with head sticking out up vertically.
A few times I even passed through wall textures on siege - mostly around ladders on the inside. Once passed through the wall from outside, got out near inner stables. Think it was Dhirim at the time it was still bugged - had to find a way in to capture it somehow.
Also - why isnt in possible to approach walls before building any siege equipment - maybe you have an army of 200 snipers which can kill any1 out there? Or at the least a way of controlling, which type of units goes into battle 1st on siege or in field, by setting class-based priority, instead of moving units up&down all the time. That IS strange btw.

Great game but the strategy side needs more developing ..

The problem here, that AI is a cheater by default.
He always attacks players weakest castle/town(with less than ~50 or so defenders), even if AI is Vaegirs and the castle is in the rearmost end of Rhodok territory and Vaegirs have wars with all other nations.
How would he know its unprotected? "Spies"? Hell no, its just an AI cheat, having precise defenders numbers of every single settlement on the map. It's just the way the game was coded.
Another fun thing - even if you have 0 defenders in a castle, enemy still has to build the siege equipment.
Want to hear something even funnier? If AI starts to besiege a castle and you scare him off - the siege building is still ticking. So if you make him run around and then let him come close(before the "besieged status resets) - he can attack immediately(or continue the construction, with the time he was running around included in build timer). Nice cheat for the AI.

You could make the dialog possible just by removing what restricts it from being there.

Remove the red, change the 9 to a 7.

This works, but it's just a hack - the dialog will say "Playername is the rightful ruler of No Faction. Join our cause against the usurper, Playername!" and you can convince them like normal, then they'll join you. But doing this you'll be able to ask any lord from any faction to join. You also wouldn't have any way of giving them fiefs, so they'd be permanently landless.
About this "hack" thing, it's actually working not too bad.
I came to the city of Curaw, requested a meeting with a local lord and persuaded him to join my "kingdom". As a result, I got a city with 387 defenders and a 152 lord's army for free without a fight.
But that's not the point, as 2 more things happened:
    1) All captured lands were still owned by the lord.
    2) I got a bunch messages, as a king, asking who should get villages, all that belonged to the captured city, 1 by 1: the lord I persuaded, me, as a lord or me, as a king.
So the texts needed for player to be the king are already there and a request to choose a ruler for a captured object is generated, probably when there is a non-zero amount of lords in the player's kingdom.

And also, there is yet no way of recruiting lords from your prison, auto-recruitment option for prisoners in town/cities every 48 hours(there is a version for normal units, but not the lords) and a recruitment option for AI - so that AI lords could "torture" their lord prisoners into joining their country, with some minor chance every 24/48 hours.

But one thing that converted AI lords cant do is thinking. If you tell them to "do whatever they want" - they just stand in one place and do nothing(unless an enemy passes by and they chase him|run away).
So real kings probably generate tasks for lords and assign marshals to help them giving tasks to other lords.

Compilation of 82 little tweaks to the text files to change your gameplay(links)

Got a request to anyone(TML?) who's good at reading these goddamn numbers - there is a need in a "fix" for the village elder quest part.
The way it is made now(by simply changing the number to a higher value) it actually screws things up.
    What we get is:
    1) Village quests have a 20/20/40 hours cooldown. When we fulfill all 3 quests for the first time, clock starts ticking(btw I can "guess" 3rd quest 100%, knowing which 1st and 2nd were=call that "random"?  ) and as a result, on 4th, 5th and every single attempt before 20 hours pass we always get the last quest on the list, as 1st and 2nd are on cooldown and game has no choice but to give the last one, maybe even without checking its cooldown timer.
    2) Doing unlimited amount of village quests sucks if you want to put it into any mod, which you want to make public, or at least make it look more "real".
    3) And no, we dont want unlimited amount of random quests with 0 cooldown.
So whats needed is a simple trigger that would reset village elders every 36? hours just like it does to lords and ladies. Anyone who can make it?
Just that Im not good at decoding all these numbers, would've made it myself, really.
