Most end game play throughs end with all factions declaring war on me

Late game is just pure pain, and to me it feels like no mod or patch can save this game, its fundamentally broken and badly designed.
This is so true, sadly. Game loop is designed so badly that it'll take more than just changing the theme from Calradia to Middle Earth for example to fix late game. I don't know who thought fighting non-stop until you conquer the whole map would be so fun and not boring and frustrating af.

How can castles be made important in your opinion?

Castles can be connected to towns and the town in question can not be besieged or it's villages raided unless the connected castles are taken over first. More prosperous towns and castles that mean something strategically.

    Beta Patch Notes v1.1.0

    • Party Screen Troop Sorting:
      • Players can now sort both rosters in the party screen by troop Type, Name, Count and Tier.
      • The last selected sort type is remembered and applied on every party screen initialisation.
      • By default, heroes are grouped together at the top of the roster.
      • This change also includes a troop-type rundown added to the party screen. Players now can see how many Infantry, Archers, Cavalry and Horse Archers they have at a glance.
    Thank god, finally.

Also, nice to see new armors are being added to the game. I think art team did a fantastic job designing vanilla armors. They look really cool.

SP - UI Queue the same project

Example: Newly captured town has 1 level of Fairgrounds built. I want to build 2 more to make it max level but I can't queue the same project more than once. If I try to do it, it cancels the first one. So I have to check back the town to build the 3rd level which is not always possible because...

    Patch Notes v1.2.3 ...?

    Regarding tribute...

It is VERY realistic for it to be based on a side's desire to wage war. I think the issue here is people think they are winning because they inflict casualties, which is meaningless, and capture territory, which would actually make your enemy MORE willing to fight.

You want to capture nobles... I have only ever paid for peace when I start my own kingdom to avoid fighting multiple wars. When you capture nobles, they can no longer break sieges, they sue for peace.

In fact it's so easy to get tribute for peace I often get screwed at the end of a war because peace is brokered before I can take another settlement.

    I agree with this.
It happened to me several times where AI started a war with demanding lots of tribute and after they capture a couple of fiefs from me, they offer ME tribute for peace.
So the tribute system is not entirely about winning/losing the war and it's certainly not about raids having too much weight in calculation.
I think it comes down to; if AI wants peace = they offer tribute, if they don't = they demand tribute.

    Beta Patch Notes v1.0.3

You need to push this to live sooner rather than later as PS people seem to be really annoyed by their save games getting corrupted.

Mod Proposal : War Goals / Objectives

I think it's a good idea but it'd be pointless to implement a feature like this without improving the AI first. AI right now doesn't know why it's fighting or making peace. Factions don't have different strategies or ambitions. Having a random war goal won't make much difference. They should've made the factions more distinct from each other, not just in appearance but also in strategy, tactics, behavior towards others, how peaceful or warring or treacherous they're going to be and stuff like that.

It's still an issue as of 1.0.2. Seems to be mostly affecting axes.

I can't believe how stupid the AI is.

In general some distance calculations are in order across the game.

Lords and armies should have prioritization of closer over distant goals.

I basically should never see an army of 2k meander past an army of 1k sieging down their faction's town or castle for the sake of sieging some distant target that they'll probably fail to take anyway.

Quest generation could have some distance limits as well.

The distance should also consider the actual path, not a bird's eye path that ignores mountains and water and so on.

Escort Merchant Caravan is a good example of the game not considering map layout and distance enough - sometimes it sends you deep into Aserai or Sturgia. So are Conspiracy quests that are brutally RNG and can send you to opposite ends of the map while you're busy at war with multiple factions on your end.
    Nope, not that.
All 3 armies were around the southern part of the map, closer to Danustica than to Sibir. It took them a while to get there. Not using any mods that modifies AI behavior btw. As for Vlandia vs Khuzait situation, yes they were closer to Vlandian lands.

I can't believe how stupid the AI is.

So, we're at war with Aserai. I'm leading the assault on their lands, sieging a couple of castles near Husn Fulq and then the city itself. I'm looking at my 3 other armies and they're heading towards Razih. So far so good. Then a revolt happens in Sibir which is on the other end of the map and...

Late game is non-stop war and it's not fun

Pass a few policies for loyalty and ignore hideouts and quests for entire game: "Okay that's fine"
Add actual diplomacy/treaties/alliances/strategy: "no no no too much power for the player, they'll finish the game too fast if they don't use the same forced brain dead systems as the AI"

The game is actually forcing me to finish the game.I was just taking my time doing the main quest (taking over Empire fiefs), waiting for my children to grow up. Doing some boring quests here and there. I wasn't trying to "beat" the game I was trying to enjoy it. But I started to chain-siege my way to the finish line now.

The thing is, the game is quite easy even on Bannerlord difficulty (especially late game) so if someone wants to steamroll the entire campaign, they'll do it regardless of any diplomacy system being implemented or not. This lack of diplomacy is not making the game any harder, it's just making it much more annoying.

Late game is non-stop war and it's not fun

Other factions just take turns to declare war on us. There is no time to take a breather, manage the fiefs that I own, clear nearby hideouts, upgrade my family's gear, sell all the loot that I've amassed, talk to other lords etc. Khuzaits declare war and then the Vlandians, we go back to the...

What is the next major content after Rebellions?

Waiting for diplomacy to be implemented to jump back into the game, personally.

What do you think about population?

I really think that the player should only be able to recruit mercenaries until they have their own fief, I also wish lords could only recruit from their own fiefs. Of course, this would take a re imagining of the recruitment process. So for example, fiefs would have certain limits on how many soldiers could be recruited for each lord, etc. Lords with few fiefs would naturally have less soldiers. Infinite soldier supply is just silly. There should be ways to hurt a faction by killing a lot of their soldiers which makes them not want to go to war for a long time. Of course, someone else might take advantage of this.

I have little interest in playing a game where defeating the opponent over and over means absolutely nothing, because they continue to come back again with fresh troops recruited out of thin air.

If the wars were at least limited so not everyone is fighting multiple wars all the time, and SOME kingdoms were actually at peace for 30-50% of the time, it might be a good balance. If you want to fight constantly, either hire out as a mercenary, join one of the more aggressive factions, or take on bandits between wars. If you want more kingdom management and politics, join one of the less aggressive factions. You CAN have both options in this game, if it's designed to provide a few meaningful differences between factions.

The ability to recruit from a village should be limited, with the owner having almost unlimited ability to recruit (if it runs out of peasants, it's your own fault), faction members and those friendly to the village having reduced access (practically nil below some minimum population figure, increasing as the population grows), and neutral parties having extremely limited ability to recruit, and only if the village has excess population above some minimum. Enemies should NOT be allowed to recruit; would you give weapons to a forcibly conscripted enemy and then expect them to support you in combat? Expect a stab in the back instead.

The idea is that if there are too many wars, army sizes begin to shrink until lords can't gather a large enough field army to take another castle or town (sieges should be painfully expensive in both manpower and supplies for the attacker), in which case there's no point in continuing the war for the aggressor. The AI needs to end wars when (or before) it becomes pointless. Population growth rates need to create enough excess population to recruit in order to start another war in 3-6 months or so. 6-12 months of war, followed by 3-6 months of peace, depending on casualties and the aggressiveness of the faction. This is not the late middle ages, where you have 15-100 year wars, it should be a series of raids and brief campaigns for a single season, then return home to plant or harvest.

I fully agree with you guys. I hope TW make note of these suggestions which can make the game much better than what it is now.

Need More Info Love this, Conspiracy Questline

Hi, the screenshot the original poster provided shows a bugged progress of -2147483648. Have you ever encountered a similar bug? Do you still have your save files with this bug persisting?

No, -2147483648 didn't happen to me.
What happened was; former leader of a destroyed faction who is currently part of Vlandia, declaring war against Vlandia, which is the same issue OP described. But that number didn't happen to me.
