I was just wondering what peoples favorite faction or unit in this game is. I downloaded it before work and I got to play only a hour of it before I had to leave. It looks interesting and I can't wait to play it more.

I'm a bit biased myself; although I'm from the US, my mom's maiden name was Britton, and my ancestors on her side are from the Welsh-English border region... I've got to say that I also like the Wessex/Mercia Gumrics (and the rest of the archery line) that I've rescued from brigands and mixed into my warband.

I like archers a lot, but I guess there are no calvary in this one? I did not see any off the bat, but the unit name confuse me since they aren't in english.

No, none of the troop trees have cavalry. Strictly infantry.
Only the leaders (Lords/Jarls or whatever they're called) and some caravans and a few bandits have horses.
But that's about it. Overall very few horses. And certainly no high tier units on horses.
So you basically have:
1. Archer infantry
2. Melee infantry
3. "Throwing" infantry.

I thought I saw something about scots having Calvary. Unless I have older version

Currently playing Wessex. I like the few scott units I have recruited, so I might play them next.

I figured the Danes would be somewhat like the Nords in Native and I played them alot.

If you keep a sharp eye out on roving bandit bands. You might be able to liberate some manhunters.
Once they have upgraded enough they turn into mounted units.  Plus as you said the Scots have a mounted raider.
They are a bit lighter than I like mounted troops, but balance well with the other ground troops.

Personally I've recruited 9 hero's, set them all up as cavalry with lance on heavy hunters. Like a personal escort within the warband.
Using them along with some Rus Mercs or Jom Brothers, in a combined arms attack.

Let the foot troops attack from the front while cavalry harasses from the sides or attacks from the rear.
Its been fairly effective for me so far. Although I haven't yet gone toe to toe with many large army's.
I won 3 of the 4 fights I have been in, always outnumbered. Called one a draw, was just taking too many casualties.
Ran into a scots army that was at least half mounted and got out maneuvered. So I pulled out and went home to lick my wounds.

Overall I've been very fond of this mod. <S>

The scot mounted raiders are nice, but being light means that they get slaughtered if they run into a tight bunch of almost any infantry.

I like the Frison veteran mercenaries, mostly because they were the only thing keeping me alive in the earliest fights.

Frison Veteran Mercenaries have my vote too!

They usually form the core of any army I have.  Plus they are easy to obtain...I just have to liberate them from some sea raiders or bandits.
