Hello everybody,
In the past, I played a lot the Europe 1200 mod for the first Mount&Blade and it's a great mod . Now, I'm interested in the warband's version, but I didn't see the Templars will be included. Is it right?

You're right. The Templars are not in yet.

Do you mean they will be included in the future?

btw: Thanks again for this mod. It's the unique reason I play Mount&Blade.

Of course they will, but we still don't know how. And, certainly, you won't see Templars and Hospitallers fighting in Europe. You'll see the fighting infidels and pagans, maybe even heretics. But to have this properly, we need to implement religion and find a way to represent the Templar and Hospitaller orders. We haven't worked on that yet...

Take care!

No faction or mercenary troop for the assassins. No permanent death. No ability to kill the lords.

Now, hiring the Assassins in Masyaf to scare the **** out of some lord, yes. But we're talking about actions in the Middle East. There were no assassins in Europe.

Erm, well, no problem without professional 'guilds' of assassins in Europe, but haven't we talked about various scales of thugs depending on your renown level? I'm referring to the bandits that tend to ambush you alone in towns or villages.

No faction for the assassins? Weren't they their own faction? With even like 2 castles...

Too much myth around the Assassins. Wew they a faction of their own? Yes. But we haven't made a faction for every heretic sect in the West, and there were plenty, many with their own castles or forts somewhere. Waldensians, Cathars, Amalricians, Ortlibians, Pantheists, Brethren of the Free Spirit...

The Assassins, better called Nizarids, are yet another of many Muslim sects. One that had specialised in creating a group of expert assassins that were not, at all, the ninja-like badass killers from popular culture. There were assassins in the West, nothing to do with the Nizarids. I mean, thugs willing to kill for money are as old as war. These assassins, the Nizarids, were not really that different.

And there is a story about Saladin besieging Masyaf and ordering the retreat after finding a cake inside his tent with the message "your life is in our hands". And also, there's the paranoid fear of the Assassins that suffered the king of Aleppo, Duqaq, because they were controlled by his brother and deadly foe, Ridwan, king of Damascus. But there is no big deal with it. They were a good group of killers, not a faction with a certain State organization.

But the Nizarids had no army. And, even so, the best way to represent them in game would be a bandit faction. Anyway, if we add them, Masyaf is doomed, Al-Adil would take it sooner or later.

That's one of the things in the list of things to do...

I'm modder and I do quests for another game at the moment. I don't know if it's hard to make a quest for Mount&Blade. But, if it isn't, I would be interested in a quest featuring a templar helping a King in Europe and afterward going to the Holy land helping the order against the Saracens.

Mmm... that doesn't make much sense from the historical point of view. The Templars didn't fight other Christians (allright, they did, but not in Europe, and not openly). And they would never accept an offer from a Christian king to fight some other king or lord, however rebellious or evil he might be. Also, a king would hardly accept their help with the condition of him going to the Holy Land in a crusade.

Thanks for your help, anyway. If you have other ideas, post them into the "quest ideas" thread, and we'll be thankful.

We have an entire thread dedicated to quest suggestions, why post it here?

Anyways, I don't think making a quest based on the life of some dead templar is something we will do, I think Cèsar has already found some interesting characters that we can make quest (storylines actually) based on..

Anyway, I need to learn how to make quests with the modding tool these next weeks . Afterward, I will have a better idea of what it is possible to do or not in Mount&Blade.

btw: My next posts about my storyline idea will be in the quest thread.

You can't make quests with all those downloadable modding tools, they are only for very simple stuff. If you want to make quests you'll need to learn coding, and even though M&B uses python, it's is pretty much a coding language of it's own. If you've done coding before you can quickly pick it up though.
