But, it is Thursday my dudes and the show must go on... Instead, in this week’s blog, we will talk about how we approach game design here at TaleWorlds, giving you a brief insight into the general process of taking an idea and turning it into a game feature.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/82

Ok I would understand if the engine added a year or two on but with this many people it doesn't take that long to create a game and an engine.

No? How long did your game and engine take to make then?

I hope they add tugs for khuzait

I'm using common sense, [insults snipped]. If there are 50-100 people working on a game engine and a game, you should at least have a stable beta out by now.

Please don't feed the trolls. I fully understand the desire to refute their purile notions and comments and they are annoying but feeding them only gives them a sense of achievement and self worth and encourages them.

This blog was so boring the annoying release date squad has come in, don't ever let that happen again boys, it's really tiring to read all of their trash

I'm using common sense, something you don't have. If there are 50-100 people working on a game engine and a game, you should at least have a stable beta out by now.

So no personal experience then. "Common sense" can only extrapolate when given relevant data. Otherwise it's just "guessing." I've worked in the game industry and the development of this game has been far from slow. Did they announce the game too early? Absolutely. Has their communication at times been lacking? No doubt. But their rate of progression is actually quite commendable.

The screenshot was the only interesting part. Do random troops with a 1h and no shield carry banners or are there specific banner carrying troops that you'd upgrade to only because it would make commanding easier?

My thoughts exactly.

I'm no expert but i know that it shouldn't take 8 years to make a game when you have a team of 50-100 people working on it every day.

If you are not an expert then stop spouting stupid bull**** like this made out of ignorance and impatience.

This blog felt rushed, which it probably was, and was lacking in content actually relevant to the player. Oh well, stuff happens. Not every blog has or can be relevant to the players. Carry on.
If it's any consolation:

So soldiers carry banners in their hands now. Neat.
I'm glad to see this being present as well although I'm a bit concerned about the banners being jittery when performing combat animations since they're very long. Hopefully they're taking this into consideration.

I'd like to see a development blog with a kind of timeline of the development process, going into detail when and how a feature came about and started progress, when changes were decided on, when a feature was scrapped, when a part of the engine was scrapped and started over on, etc. as well as a checklist of completed features ready for launch, and a percentage of work to be done on features that still need polishing. I feel like we're all kind of in a state of darkness when it comes to know where exactly in development we are, and what features are for sure making it to launch, and what will have to wait for DLC.

"we tend to include everyone who would be involved in implementing a feature in the design meetings alongside the game designers. Not only to offer their feedback on the actual design but so a plan can be formulated for the implementation of the design. The professional expertise of the people responsible for implementing each design is required to ensure that any new feature or mechanic is technically viable and can be implemented into the game. And in many cases, these professionals have unique solutions to any problems that arise."

That was one of the reasons in our indie game team I was working on to not be able to finish our game. Everybody just had too many ideas. I hope this is not in Taleworlds the reason for delays.

Not sure why everyone is being excited about this.

This was old news and has been confirmed since the releast of the Sergeant mode videos release, which was in 2017
