Dismounted cavalry with 2 handed weapons and shield, such as imperial cataphracts, don't use their shields and instead hold weapon with two hands when in shieldwall formations. Normally maybe not an issue, but annoying and bad in sieges, when they are dismounted and getting shot by 100 arrows, still having their shield on back making no sense and die for no reason.
To reproduce simply get such troops in army (eg. Imperial Cathapract), dismount them, and tell them to shield wall formation. Alternatively, do it in a siege and skip dismounting step.
