Trying to get lords to join my kingdom and getting the wrong name in the report

Hello, I have been asking Lords to join my newly formed kingdom. For instance, I asked 'Boyar Beranz' to join my kingdom, and Jeremus said that King Ragnar found my messenger unconvincing.  Are the names mixed up, or will this prevent me from recruiting lords?  That would be game-breaking.

Weird, upload a screenshot please of the dialogue and the troop notes for Beranz. Isn't he supposed to start off as a swadian vassal?

Also, i used the staff to attempt recruiting a lord, and it changed his fief's color to mine, and it seems to include him, sort of but not really, in my kingdom.  Very confusing, and i think it broke something?
