I'd like to suggest that there should be an option where the treasurer can hold money for you (10k, 50k, 100k) which you can withdraw again either in steps or at once. (10k 50k, 100k, everything)
This mainly helps when the empire is larger and you use the invest function a lot. Later on, the only function you can use is "risk it all", which leaves you devoid of money - which creates obvious problems.
Allowing the treasurer to work as a deposit allows you to keep some of the money so that you can still buy that shiny new armor, because you don't lose all your gold.
