I have some questions about the Hornist/Trumpeter in Napoleonic Wars.

1. Where will the class be positioned? By the officer or somewhere else?

2. What is the hornist/trumpeter's role in the battlefield?

If you have any tips for me while playing this class - Please let me know. (I'm new to the game)

It is used by trolls to play an annoying tune over and over again until someone finally manages to shoot him.
But doesn't trolls get banned right away? If we are a bit on the serious side here... What is it really meant for?

Trumpets, drums, flutes etc give buffs to melee, firearm accuracy and reloading speed, depending on the regiment.

Besides that, they are great fun and make a battle come alive.

Officers and sergeants/flag bearers, also give buffs.

its wrong,
Trumpets, drums, flutes etc give a speed bonus to reloading.
Sergeants for riflemen give a running speed bonus.
officers give an bonus in accuracy
generals give a slight bonus to eveything
probably some more than that but i can't remember

Almost correct
Infantry musicians give a reload bonus, but cavalry musicians a melee bonus (IIRC)
Generals improve all other bonuses slightly (so their bonus only works whenever another bonus is on you)

Also playing the music just sounds nice. Of course you can never go wrong by blasting some tunes with the flute.
