    Bannerlord was a grift

    By saying "don't criticise if you can't do it yourself" you are walking into a minefield of actual game developers who can and have done better jobs at releasing this kind of game.
    I'm not gonna say your argument is invalid, because I actually agree with it, but I'd just like you to point out the better jobs in this kind of game, because I'm not aware of *any* games of the same sort as M&B, let alone ones as good. And Bannerlord is by far the most detailed and advanced of the bunch. (To be clear, I'm thinking of the singleplayer mode, I'm not at all interested in multiplayer slugfests.)

    Guide: Skills

    How does one go about increasing crossbow skills without speccing into crossbows at the start of the game? I have 5 in crossbows, but the only crossbow I could find has a requirement of 30, so I can't even equip it, let alone increase the skill.

    I don't get it?
    In the town menu, you can visit the castle, tavern, market etc etc, and one of those options is the church. I haven't yet had a situation where it was unavailable. Far more often I wasn't allowed to enter the tavern or market if I'm at odds with the town's lord.

    Version 2.55 runs on which version of warband?

    It should run on all 1.153 and above. Though, my savegame got corrupted lately, and I don't know whether it's because of something I did, regular bugs, or one of the viking-specific updates.

    I'm also having trouble with the mod crashing... I downloaded v2.0 low res yesterday, and am running Warband 1.164, and when I start a new game it crashes after I'm done with character creation and click to enter the world.

    Do you perhaps own land and shops in cities? You need to go to the city itself and collect the money there by talking to the money lenders.

    The fact that there's patches other than 1.160 should be announced more clearly, it took me a while to figure it out and get them... it's just not good enough to have the last announcement be for 1.160 if there's 3 more patches since (even if they're minor improvements they should be at least mentioned in the first post in the latest patch thread).

    I would love it if the game had some improvements available to the various features... so far, Silverstag has done a pretty good job with many improvements available for villages, castles and towns, and brought far more value to any of them.
    If it were possible to upgrade the various businesses (or, maybe, even enable more than one to be built in a town?) it would make the game that much more interesting to those of us with a builder mindset. :smile:
    And why not even the ability to modify castle layouts? Or design castles from the ground up, like the great old Lords of the Realm series?

    Even the original suggestion could be made viable, through improvement of a basic settlement, but that would greatly depend on balancing the trading system, to prevent settlement spamming.

    Item balancing and additions.

    If you want to go that way, better to give the smith some sort of bonus for his culture-related items... everyone decent enough can make decent enough armor/weapons of any type (it's not like they're greatly different technologically or something, it's all the same basic principles), but is better at doing his specific stuff. Maybe limit their ability regarding making masterwork stuff from other cultures.

    And of course, try some mods, they give a lot more substance to the basic game.

    Also, yes, Warband is well worth the price. Add in a few of the mods (Floris, Silverstag, ACOK, Brytenwalda and many others) which add a lot of functionality to the game, and it's a fantastic game.

    Well, yes, that much is obvious... another difference is that the GOG version doesn't ask for a serial to unlock. I don't have the Steam one (yet, of course :smile: ) so I can't say about that one. But I'm thinking more of gameplay-related differences, or something that might interfere with mods.

    I'm not sure this belongs in this thread, but I can't find a more relevant one.

    So, the Moddb only has up to v0.23, but has both cinematic and basic versions, while Nexus Mods has v0.24, but only the basic version. Is there a cinematic v0.24, and where?

    Bug Reports & Known Issues [v2.54]

    Can't seem to find this reported before, so it may be specific to my game...
    I'm using Floris 2.55 on Warband 1.160, having started this particular savegame with Floris 2.54 on Warband 1.153.

    I noticed Derchios Castle seems to be missing an archery tower... the archers just hang around in the sky, and you can climb the invisible stairs up to them and fight them normally.
    Went back later for a walk and took these screenshots.


    I also on occasion get the transparent map glitch, but it happens irregularly and goes away after a while.
