    Well, let's hope that this is improved at a later date. Marriages in the Middle Ages were highly political and economic in nature. She'd have a dowry which would include land, money etc. Marriages were also used to cement alliances. Of course, the prospective wife's family would have expectations of climbing the social ladder through their connections to you and you will have obligations- expect to have your in-laws coming around and asking for favors of all kinds. Double-edged sword, that. Done right, this would be a brilliant addition to the game system.

    I already posted this question once already.  Thread deleted for some reason. I still need an answer.  I sailed into port with a ship I purchased, and when I return to the port I don't have it. Is this a bug or a feature? EDIT:  SORRY.... double posted.  I thought the original thread was removed.

    I saved up a great schwack of cash to buy a trading ship and sailed it to a port.  Then went trading.  When I return to the port the ship is gone and I have to pay for passage. WTF??? I am severely pissed.

    thanks for the clarification.

    However- I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but every new character I create is expected to start his career with a dagger.  And no companions in the mead houses, no volunteers (my first character paid 800 for two volunteers) and heat-seeking bandits chasing him down with unerring accuracy.

    This gets tired pretty damn quickly.

    I'm kinda with the OP.  I am having a dickens of a time hiring volunteers; even a village that I saved from bandits won't help- the headman tells me to go F##k myself.

    Besides that, do attributes not increase?  I've gone up multiple levels but only skill points and weapon proficiencies increase.

    Caravan Escort Mission: Can't Complete!!

    I'm playing as an English noble.  I took a caravan escort job to Novgorodok in Lithuania, but for some reason I can't complete the mission.  I've reached the town, but the caravan is still following me around and I can't complete the mission/quest. Help!!

    What setting do most people play on?

    I noticed that the AI tends to send it's men in a pell-mell charge against my line.  Invariably the result is that they get picked off one by one pretty quickly.  I even saw three Swabian Heavy cavalry get smoked 1-2-3 against so-so troops.  :shock: I was able to defeat numerous enemy armies, often outnumbered 3:2 or 2:1 in some cases; as long as I was able to choose my ground and order my men to form a ragged line.

    I won't call it a shield wall.  That's coming with Viking Invasions, I hope.

    I understand the concept of ransoming captives; however, I managed to capture two Swabian Nobles;  the ransom agent (?) wouldn't offer a ransom for him; the name on the captives window was grayed out. Is there a cooldown for the ransom?  To give time to the other faction to raise the money? ...

    I'm guessing that hitching your wagon to a claimant to the throne is a better bet than going with the king- he has heaps of more qualified swords than yours, right?

    Thanks for the replies; most are really helpful.  I was starting in the Kingdom of the Nords which wasn't working out, I'll try Swadia next time.

    I haven't a clear goal for my character(s) quite yet- gold and glory, I suppose.
